KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Parliamentary standing committee on Urban Development consisting of Members of Parliament led by Shri Jagadambika Pal, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the committee along with his team travelled in Kochi Metro Rail from JawaharLal Nehru Station to Muttom metro station. They were on their inspections at various places in Kochi.
At Muttom Metro station, the Committee interacted with the women employees.

They understood and appreciated the role played by the women and transgender employees in the environment of the cutting-edge metro rail technology. The committee appreciated the progressive measures taken by Kochi Metro for maintaining station cleanliness and safety of the passengers. The rigorous drive taken by Kochi Metro for maintaining a safe environment and protocol during this Corona times have been appreciated by the Committee.
Earlier, Kochi Metro had declared Muttom Metro Station as a regular “ALL WOMEN” metro station. Muttom station is managed only by women employees including the functions of station management, ticketing, housekeeping, customer facilitation and security. Some of the trains are already being driven by women employees.
“This is my first visit to an Indian Metro as chairman of the committee and I appreciate the initiatives taken by Kochi Metro Rail for women’s empowerment; a glaring example for its social responsibility and commitment.” said Shri Jagadambika Pal, Chairman of the Committee.
