Lucknow: The Union government has approved Rs 130-crore loan for current financial year, paving way for fast construction of the priority North-South corridor of Metro rail in Lucknow. The amount will be released by the Centre in the last week of February.

European Investment Bank has also cleared Rs 43 crore for the current year and as per agreement the amount will be dispersed by last week of March, said LMRC.
“About 900 metres of city roads will be affected by construction of the underground section for a period of over two-and-a-half years and traffic may have to be diverted,” said Kumar Keshav, MD of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation.
