Jupiter Wagons Ltd. (JWL) is based in Kolkata and privately deals with the production of freight wagons, passenger coaches, wagon components, cast manganese steel crossings and castings.

The company has been witnessing regular strong demand by the private sector like private freight operators, wagon leasing companies and core sector customers. Getting such a huge opportunity from the Indian Railways recently marks a progressive direction towards growth for JWL. The Ministry of Railways has also released a tender for the procurement of 5,800 BOBRN wagons to support the near-term demand.

Vivek Lohia, the Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons Ltd., informed that they have done backward integration across the wagon value chain from castings, bogies, couplers to brake systems, and that the company is now extending this to wheelsets through their facility in Odisha. The recent expansion gives the company good control over cost, quality and delivery timelines.
