CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): CIS Bureaus Facility Services Pvt Ltd has received a Letter of Acceptance from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for a contract related to Security Management Services under Phase II Operations and Maintenance of Chennai Metro Rail Limited. The scope of the contract covers Stage 1A and Stage 1B sections and includes security operations across 18 metro stations. The total contract value is ₹34.8 crore.

The opening of Chennai Metro Rail Limited Phase II services on the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch is likely to be deferred to April. Although the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has granted provisional authorisation for train operations between Poonamallee and Porur, the approval includes speed restrictions. The authority has also specified that operations on the Porur-Vadapalani section will commence only after the completion of 26 deck slabs in the double-decker stretch between Alapakkam and Alwarthirunagar along Corridor 5.
Chennai Metro Phase II is a major expansion project with an approved cost of ₹63,246 crore. The network will cover 118.9 km and include 128 stations, with completion targeted by 2028. The project consists of three corridors: Corridors 3, 4, and 5, which include both elevated and underground sections designed to improve urban connectivity across the city.
