NAGPUR (Metro Rail News): While the construction of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 is progressing at a steady pace, a new metro corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi has been finalised under Nagpur Metro Phase 3. This route is a part of the recently presented Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), which aims  to enhance connectivity in the city.

This development was confirmed by senior officials from MahaMetro following a high-level stakeholder meeting held on 27 July 2025, which was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, among other notable participants.

Among the primary proposals in CMP Phase 1 there are two High Capacity Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) corridors. The total estimated cost for these projects is 8,625 crore.

  • Sitabuldi-Koradi- 11.5 km
  • Mankapur Chowk-Rachana Junction – 25 km

The Sitabuldi-Koradi line has been prioritised for the development of the metro route. A senior official from MahaMetro stated, “We have finalised the Sitabuldi-Koradi corridor based on Peak Hour Peak Direction Traffic (PHPDT) assessments. The ridership projections and traffic volumes indicate its feasibility for metro operations.”

It is anticipated that the proposed corridor will accommodate a daily ridership of 147,000 commuters by the year 2054. Additionally, there is a proposal for Nagpur Metro Phase IV; however, the specific route has yet to be disclosed.
