Nagpur ( Metro Rail News ): Nagpur Metro advanced as GR Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) began the construction work under Package C-02 of Nagpur Metro Phase 2.

This is the second section of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 and Orange Line where construction work has officially commenced.

Package C-02 Of Nagpur Metro Phase 2

On 29 September 2024. GR Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) secured Package C-2 of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 from Maha-Metro at Rs. 903.53 crore contract with a 2.5-year deadline.

The scope of work under Package C-02 includes the construction of a viaduct spanning 17.624 km within the Nagpur Metro Orange line’s Reach 1A, which spans an 18.7 km long route from Khapri to Butibori MIDC ESR.

According to GRIL’s construction plan, the project involves the following key components:

  • Total Segments to be Cast: 5,144
  • PSC Girders to be Cast: 746
  • Casting Facilities:
    • Long-line Casting Beds: 8
    • Short-line Casting Beds: 16

Funding: Package C-02 will be financed by a $200mn loan which was approved by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in July 2024 

Maha-Metro’s Brief Scope: Construction of an elevated metro viaduct of length 17.624 km and a 6-lane double-decker portion with a vehicular underpass for the remaining  1.14km of Reach-1A of Nagpur Metro Phase 2.

The construction of 8 elevated stations on the viaduct will be carried out under package C-09. The stations are: 

  • Ashokvan
  • Dongargaon
  • Mohgaon
  • Meghdoot MIDC
  •  Butibori Police Station
  • MHADA Colony
  • MIDC KEC
  • MIDC ESR.

Reach 1A’s viaduct will run along NH-44 and includes two special spans over the Indian Railways lines, measuring 79 meters and 100 meters in length. It also features a 1.14 km long, 6-lane double-decker section designed to accommodate both vehicular traffic and CRRC metro trains.
