BMRCL invites bids for Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s rolling stock contract

The Chinese firm CRRC was originally awarded Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s 216 coach rolling stock contract in December 2019 and had committed to manufacture 204 coaches.

BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) on 22nd April invited tenders for the acquisition of 72 new coaches for the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project. These 72 coaches will be deployed exclusively on the 19.143 km Yellow Line (Reach 5). The yellow line will connect RV Road – Bommasandra via 16 stations.

BMRCL plans to deploy the 72 new coaches from this contract alongside 42 new coaches it will receive from BEML.

The scope of this contract includes Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 72 Nos. of Standard Gauge Metro Cars and Training of Personnel under Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited Project Phase -2

The Chinese firm CRRC was originally awarded Bangalore Metro Phase 2’s 216 coach rolling stock contract in December 2019 and had committed to manufacture 204 coaches (34 trains) in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh but has failed to deliver the coaches till now.
