Nagpur: Nagpur metro phase II project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) is submitted by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) to state government’s Urban Development Department (UDD). The department will study the report in details and if they have any quarries they can question the DPR. After everything found Okay, then UDD will forward the DPR to state cabinet for approval.

After the delay of 2 months. DPR is prepared by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES). RITES had already completed its study which included traffic, topographic and geotechnical data and gave the green light to Phase ll earlier in February. Phase II will have five stretches having a total length of 48.3 km and 35 stations. The cost of the phase is about Rs10,500 crore at 2018 prices.

The longest stretch is from Mihan to Butiori which is 18.5kms with 10 stations.

The stretches are decided according to the traffic congestion of these routes. The estimated daily ridership from Kanhan River to Butibori MIDC is 2.61 lakh in 2024, 3 lakh in 2031 and 3.73 lakh in 2041. The ridership of Transport Nagar to Hingna line is 2.58 lakh in 2024, 2.98 lakh in 2031 and 3.62 lakh in 2041. The figure for Wasudeo Nagar to Dattawadi spur is 30,000 in 2024, 35,000 in 2031 and 39,000 in 2041.

This metro project will generate a large number of employment opportunities and will help to grow. It will be beneficial for the citizens as they will get relief from traffic and will get a faster way to reach their destination.
