Bengaluru Metro Green Line

Operational Operator: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Length: 33.46 km Since: 01/03/2014 Updated: Official site ↗

As of 19 Oct 2026, Bengaluru Metro Green Line is operational (since 1 Mar 2014). Latest news: 4 Nov 2026.

The Bengaluru Metro Green Line is Namma Metro's north-south corridor, running 33.46 km from Madavara in the north-west to Silk Institute on Kanakapura Road through 32 stations, three of them underground around Majestic. Operated by BMRCL, it opened in stages from March 2014 and has run end to end since November 2024. Fares range from ₹10 to ₹90, with trains from 05:00 to 23:00.

Why it matters

The Green Line links the Peenya and Tumakuru Road industrial belt with the city centre at Majestic, where it meets the Purple Line, KSR Bengaluru railway station and the main bus terminal, and with southern residential areas such as Jayanagar, Banashankari and JP Nagar. It also meets the Yellow Line at RV Road. New trains being inducted from 2026 should ease peak crowding, and Phase 3 Orange Line interchanges are planned at Peenya and JP Nagar.
