Pune (Metro Rail News): The Pune Metro project progressed as the state government has agreed to finance the additional cost of Rs. 683 Crore for the 2 new stations, namely Bibwewadi and Balaji Nagar station, introduced on the Pune Metro’s Purple Line extension from Swargate to Katraj, which spans 5.464 km.
Back in January 2025, Maharashtra Urban Affairs Minister Madhuri Misal proposed two new stations on the Purple Line’s extension from Swargate to Katraj.
The primary objective for proposing the two new additional stations along the Swargate to Katraj extension was to address the persistent traffic congestion in Pune.
This development comes after the Maha-Metro invited bids for the first civil contract for the Pune Metro’s Purple Line extension from Swargate to Katraj.
