Bengaluru Metro Purple Line

Operational Operator: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Length: 43.49 km Since: 20/10/2011 Updated: Official site ↗

As of 19 Oct 2026, Bengaluru Metro Purple Line is operational (since 20 Oct 2011). Latest news: 22 Oct 2026.

The Purple Line is Bengaluru Namma Metro's east-west corridor, run by BMRCL. It runs 43.49 km from Whitefield (Kadugodi) in the east to Challaghatta in the southwest, with 37 stations, five of them underground in the city centre. The full line has been operational since 9 October 2023. Fares range from ₹10 to ₹90, and trains start from the terminals at 5:00 am on weekdays.

Why it matters

The Purple Line is the busiest corridor of Namma Metro. On 11 August 2025 it carried 4,51,816 of the network's 10,48,031 passengers. It links the Whitefield IT belt, KR Pura and Indiranagar with MG Road, the Vidhana Soudha area and Majestic, where it meets the Green Line and KSR Bengaluru railway station, and continues to Mysuru Road and Kengeri. Planned interchanges with the Blue Line at KR Pura, the Pink Line at MG Road and the Orange Line at Mysuru Road will add to its role.
