Mumbai Monorail
Mumbai Monorail is India’s first monorail system, running 19.54 km between Chembur and Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk (Jacob Circle) across 18 stations. It is currently suspended for a safety and signalling overhaul; its route, timeline and latest updates are below.
Operated by Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) under MMRDA, the monorail has been out of passenger service since 20 September 2025 for a full Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling upgrade and rolling stock overhaul. The revamped system received safety certification on 3 June 2026, but resumption has been repeatedly delayed pending safety-net installation under the elevated track.
