Monorail

Mumbai: Mumbai Mono Rail employees suffering in delay of salary payment, even employees did not got appraisal from past 3 years and from 2016 onward delay of salaries has been hovering, from April 2018 more than 200 employees has not got their payment. Which creates insecurity in minds of employees even numbers of employees has left their job. Which also reduces the number of employees from 350 to 200 only.

Scomi worker written a compliant to CM Maharashtra
Scomi worker twitted a compliant to CM Maharashtra (Source: Twitter)

The employees who fulfill the dream of monorail of millions of people are now not able to get what belongs to them. while interacting to employees we found that apart from salary, they have not clear the dues of PF, TDS etc. Not only staff member even vendors, suppliers, other agencies invoice has also became part of the cycle. Company is forcing employees to work from home without giving the salary surety.

The first Monorail system brought by a joint consortium which was led jointly by Larsen & Toubro and Scomi Engineering Pvt Ltd. As per the rule L&T  give salary to employees who are working under it, similarly employees of Scomi paid by Scomi Engineering Pvt Ltd. Now employees of both companies have got sandwich between LTSE and Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Authority (MMRDA).

LTSE stated that, they have no issues to make employees payment and other dues, but we are running with shortage of funds resources and MMRDA being a principal employer is not properly collaborating with LTSE in respect of fund allocation.

Company employees says that, it has became very painful for us to work with Company, as we are not able to get for what we are working day night.

When some of staff member of company approached to MMRDA, they got unexpected response from MMRDA. “Resolving salary issues is not our business, we have to do nothing with this”,  MMRDA says.

Now the question arises if MMRDA  is not responsible for dealing salary issues and LTSE has no fund to make salary payment. Then who is responsible for funds allocation and if funds allocates to LTSE, where does funds go? And why employees  has to suffer? All employees demanding the answer of all this question to LTSE and MMRDA. Not only India’s employees of LTSE are suffering  even Malaysia’s employees have same condition.

“The project has not been shelved. We are ready to take it up between Yeshwantpur Railway station and KIA, provided the Centre agrees to it. We are also exploring an elevated lines as Yelanhanka to Devaanahalli is single line and is not electrified”, said  Mahendra Jain, who is an additional chief secretary of urban development department.

“Namma Metro’s proposed airport connectivity won’t affect the HSRL project. Air passengers who want to travel quickly to and from the airport can use the high-speed trains.Others can use Namma Metro which has multiple stops. Both will serve different purposes,” Mahendra Jain, who is also managing director of BMRCL said.

Further he said that, “passengers can directly reach the airport, those travelling in high-speed trains may have to get off at the proposed station near Trumpet flyover and airport authorities may have to operate shuttle services to ferry passengers.”

E.Shreedharan, who is known as Metro Man of India also appreciated linking of HSRL to airport and said that, it is more better option than Metro.

BIAL CEO Hari Marar said that, “Considering Metro could take at least another four years to connect the airport to the city, suburban rail link could be an immediate option.Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) is in discussion with the Karnataka government and the Railways to implement this service, which would benefit both passengers and employees.”

ICF to introduce 3,000 more train coaches this year

Make in India metro coaches

Chennai: The Integral Coach factory (ICF), Indian Railways coach manufacturing unit in Chennai is ready to manufacture 3,000 coaches in this financial year (2018-19). Yet officials in the railway board has asked them to cut down the production to 2,400 coaches, said the source.

This was brought to the notice of Union railway minister Piyush Goyal during his meeting at ICF on Thursday evening. Goyal was told by ICF officials that the directives of a section of Railway Board officials are contrary to Goyal’s own orders as well as the NDA government’s ‘Make in India‘ plan.

After he was briefed, Goyal called the railway board officials as well as instructed his personal secretary that ICF’s coach manufacturing plans should not be scaled down at all. “The minister wants ICF to manufacture at least 6,000 coaches every year. ICF’s internal target is around 3,200,” said highly placed railway sources.

The Railway Board argued about the increased number of LHB coaches when there was no demand from railway board side now it would lead to early condemnation of ICF design coaches. This was opposed by ICF officials stating that there was a huge demand for LHB coaches as they have better safety features than ICF coaches.

ICF’s manufacturing output has been consistently growing at around 10% every year. In 2016-17, the unit manufactured 2,277 coaches and in 2017-18, it went up to 2,503 and in 2018-19 they planned for 3,000 coaches.

Railway two types coaches and they are ICF and LHB. The ICF stands for Integral Coach Factory and The LHB stands for Linke Hofmann Busch. LHB coaches have a much wider window as compared to ICF which provides a big picture of the landscape and makes journey beautiful.

“In a manufacturing industry, it is not easy to scale down after scaling up for so many years. Many allied contractors, as well as downstream industries, are dependent on ICF,” said a senior official.

Around 800 LHB coaches will be exported to Sri Lanka in the next few weeks and the consignment is ready, sources said.

Once the DPR is approved by state and central government, the officials feel that work on Patna Metro will be started by the end of 2018. As per the estimate, the first phase of project will take approximately three years for completion.

As per UDHD officials, several meetings have been held to discuss preliminary DPR. Suresh Kumar Sharma, the UDHD minister has already met Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union minister of state with independent charge in the ministry of urban development on June 7. Sharma has been assured by Puri that once DPR is submitted, the approval will be given at the earliest.

The estimated cost of the Patna Metro project is pegged at Rs 17,000 crore, informed the UDHD official. As per the initial plan, the central and state government will be bearing 20% (each) cost of the project.
