Also, the integration of mobile application of Pune Metro rail and PMPML is being worked out so that ‘one city one ticket’ can be implemented in Pune.” Besides Garware College, the feeder service will operate from PCMC, Sant Tukaramnagar, Bhosari, Phugewadi, and Nal Stop stations. “The bus route as well as frequency will be changed as per the response of citizens,” the statement added.

Joint Managing Director, PMPML, Chetna Kerure said, “This step will improve last-mile connectivity in the city’s transport landscape. We will study the report of this service after a month and will look into the routes that cover more commuters. The bus frequency will be managed accordingly.”

Maharashtra govt. sanctions Rs 250 cr for Mumbai Metro Line 3

MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): The Maharashtra government has authorised Rs 250 crore for the Metro Line 3 project. The amount will be paid to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) which is executing the project. This is the second part of the Rs 500 crore allocated for the project in this financial year. In January this year, the government had already paid Rs 250 crore.

This project is being financed in a 50:50 ratio by the Centre and state. According to the pact, 50% of taxes had to be paid to the Centre while the cost of land acquisition, relief rehabilitation amounting to Rs 1,615 crore with a waiver of Rs 806 crore state taxes had to be paid to MMRCL by the state government. The total amount is, therefore, Rs 2,421 crore. Up until January this year, the government had paid nearly Rs 1,926 crore.

The underground Metro Line 3 project had to be commissioned in 2019 but the construction of tunnels and stations has been delayed. Last year the government extended the lease of over 3 lakh sq feet of Azad Maidan land by another three years because MMRCL claimed that the work was delayed. The site for the metro car shed is also stuck in a political conflict between the Shiv Sena-led MVA government and BJP at the Centre. While Sena has been keen to shift this line to Kanjurmarg, the state BJP has been determined on Aarey Colony.
In the recent state budget, deputy CM, Ajit Pawar announced that the line will be extended to Navy Nagar for which the metro route will be increased to nearly 35 kms.

Private and IT firms are allowed to operate shuttle buses from Metro stations for employees,” CMRL added.

Other than that CMRL has announced gifts and vouchers, worth Rs 1 lakh, that would be presented to commuters through lucky draws. This step is taken to increase the number of passengers who avail the metro rail services. As per CMRL’s press release, top 10 commuters with a maximum number of rides in a month will be selected and the winner will be rewarded with a gift voucher or branded products worth Rs 2000 and travel cards with unlimited rides for 30 days, worth Rs 2,500 and Rs 50 deposit. A monthly lucky draw will be held for commuters who had made top-up of Rs 1,500 and above per transaction during the month. Besides these benefits, 10 commuters, who have purchased travel cards and made top-up for a minimum amount of Rs 500 will get free top-up worth Rs 1,450 and gift vouchers.

Northeast Delhi to get metro-cum-flyover viaduct by 2023

DELHI (Metro Rail News): Northeast Delhi which is well known for poor road infrastructure and transport connectivity, is going to get major relief as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started working on the city’s first double-decker viaduct – with the Metro on top and a flyover below between Bhajanpura and Gokulpuri. It will be completed by 2023.

This metro-cum-flyover is being developed for the first time in the city as part of the Delhi Metro’s Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor under Phase IV. Currently, a similar stretch is present in Jaipur. Under this corridor, an integrated elevated viaduct, which is a double-decker structure with a PWD flyover at the lower deck and Metro line at the upper deck, is being constructed between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar stations.

A DMRC official said that “The piling work for this viaduct is almost over and currently casting of piers and installation of cross-arm at flyover level is under progress. In addition, the casting of T-girder for PWD flyover and U-girder for Metro line are in progress at casting yard at Garhi Mandu.”

According to the officials, this stretch will provide flawless connectivity to hugely populated areas. It is expected to ease the traffic that occurs on the Gokulpuri roundabout and between the Bhajanpura and Gokulpuri stretch. Once the flyover is constructed, commuting between Ghaziabad, North and central Delhi from Northeast Delhi will become easier and more comfortable.

The total length of the stretch will be about 1.4 km. The metro viaduct on the upper deck will be constructed at a height of 18.5 metres, while the flyover below it will be at a height of 9.5metres. “The Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar stations will come up at a height of 18.5 metres at rail level. Construction is in full swing and is expected to be completed by December 2023,” said the official.

DMRC and PWD are planning to construct another double-decker viaduct in South Delhi between Tughlakabad and Saket G Block, which is also the part of Phase IV corridor. According to officials the preconstruction work on this stretch has already been started.
