Due to existing railway track conditions in Kerala, Vande Bharat Express trains will not be able to run at the anticipated speed, therefore the Ministry of Railways has decided to run trains through Kerala even if the speed is reduced a little.

“BulletTrainProject NHSRCL contracts for track work worth Rs. 3,141 Cr awarded. 100 per cent contract placed for civil and track work in Gujarat area,” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tweeted.

A statement from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said the ballast-less slab track system as used in the Japanese HSR (Shinkansen) will be deployed in India’s first High-Speed Rail project.

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): The travel time between Mumbai and Delhi will be reduced by more than 33 per cent after March 2024 as the Railway is targeting to complete the up-gradation of Mumbai Delhi routes up to 160 kmph.

Rajdhani is presently the fastest express train for the Mumbai-Delhi route which covers 1,386 km distance in 15 hours 40 minutes at a speed of 89 kmph.

“On Saturday, VK Tripathi, CEO and chairman of Railway board reviewed the progress of the project. During the review, concerned officials assured him that this project will be completed before March 2024,” said a Western railways official.

The project is being done under the ‘Misson Raftar’ which is in full swing. Out of the total 56 tenders, 42 have been finalised, while 14 will be finalised soon,” the official said.

The scope of the project includes fencing, automatic train protection systems, and automated mechanised diagnostic systems, which will considerably enhance safety and reliability.

“Increasing the speed of the Mumbai-Delhi section to 160 kmph will ensure up to 60% increase in the average speed of passenger trains and doubling of an average speed of freight traffic,” the official added.

Presently, around 90 passenger train services and an equal number of freight trains run on the Delhi-Mumbai corridor daily. “Once this route is upgraded to 160 km per hour speed, there will be scope for launching more passenger trains in the section. This will reduce the waiting list of passengers in some of the popular trains as many more such services with similar facilities will be on the offer,” said an official.

“Increasing the maximum speed on the route will also increase the chance of introduction of semi-high speed trains like the Vande Bharat express and allow such trains to unlock its full to travel at a speed of 160 kmph,” said an official.

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Delhi Metro‘s under-construction Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor is going to get one of the world’s tallest stations at Haiderpur Badli. It is also one of the highest sections of the Delhi Metro. Haiderpur Badli is going to be an interchange point between the existing Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli-Huda City Centre) station and the upcoming station of the Magenta Line extension.

Anuj Dayal, principal executive director (corporate communications), DMRC said that at a height of 24.

25 metres at the platform level and 23.2 metres at the track level, the Phase-IV Haiderpur Badli station is going to be the highest elevated metro station in the world and will be as tall as a seven-storey building.

“Currently, work is in progress to install the pier caps for the adjacent viaducts after the erection of pillars is completed,” he said. “The work for the interchange facility started in December 2019. The provision for an interchange was made when the station was constructed for Yellow Line expansion in Phase III. The roof slab of the Yellow Line platform will act as the platform for Magenta Line,” he added.

The average height of the pillars of the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor is 10 metres, but it will reach 20 metres at Madhuban Chowk, where the corridor will cross Red Line (Rithala-Shaheed Sthal) and increase above 25 metres at Haiderpur Badli as it crosses over Yellow Line.

The work of this station was challenging for DMRC as the construction of the pillars and launching of spans was to be done without impacting operations on Yellow Line which is one of the busiest corridors. DMRC has installed CCTV cameras and other monitoring equipment to keep a regular check on operations and a team of engineers is deployed 24×7 who monitor the progress.
