New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged-off the Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line that would allow hassle free travel for around two lakh daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub in Haryana.
The extension of the Delhi Metro connects Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad.
The total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar is nearly Rs. 2,500 crore. Out of this, Rs. 1,557 crore was borne by the Haryana Government, the Centre contributed Rs. 537 crore, while the Delhi Metro provided Rs. 400 crore.
All these are elevated and located on either side of the Delhi-Mathura Road (NH-2).
“The nine-station metro corridor which was 95 per cent indigenously built will provide people a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment-friendly and sustainable transport facility,” a Haryana government spokesperson said.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, addressing a press conference on Saturday, had thanked the Prime Minister for “gifting” the Metro service which would take the city to “another level of progress” with better connectivity with other NCR towns.
He had also said that the Prime Minister would be announcing the go-ahead for connecting Gurgaon with Faridabad by Metro.
BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): In a big development which will decrease the traffic problems in the city, the six-km long Southern Extension line under phase-2 of Namma Metro was dedicated to public today. The line, from Yelachenahalli to Silk Institute Metro stations, was inaugurated by Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
“Delighted to join CM Karnataka Sh @BSYBJP Ji & my senior colleague in the council of ministers Sh @DVSadanandGowda Ji for the inauguration of the 6-km long Southern Extension of Bengaluru Metro Project through video conferencing”, twitted Mr Hardeep Singh Puri. “This 56-km long project will be built at an estimated cost of ₹14844 cr & will be based on comprehensive mobility plan strategy of expanding reach & augmenting capacity of public transport system, promoting multi-modal mobility options & facilitating transit-oriented development”, he added. Phase-2 was sanctioned in 2014 and was supposed to be completed by 2018, but got delayed. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation had said that the line would open in August last year. However, attributing the delay to Covid-19, the opening was postponed, until now. “The inauguration of the Metro extension line and the FOBs today is a step towards the goals of Bengaluru Mission 2022 to enable faster commute and smart mobility options in the city,” the state government said in a statement.
SURAT (Metro Rail News): Sadbhav Engineering today announced that it has bagged a Rs 779.73 crore contract for a Metro Railway Project from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). The project includes the construction of 11.6 km elevated viaduct from Kadarsha Ni Nal to Dream City dead-end including a ramp for depot entry near Dream City and 10 stations for Surat Metro Rail project. “We are pleased to inform you that the Company has received Letter of Acceptance (“LOA”) from GMRC for the following for Metro Rail Project for a contract value of Rs 779.73 Crores”, the firm said.
“Construction of 11.6 km elevated Viaduct from Kadarsha Ni Nal to Dream City Dead End Including Ramp for Depot entry near Dream City and 10 Stations (Excluding E&M, Architectural Finishing and Roofing) for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase-1, Package-CS1″ in the name of SEL-SPSCPL Joint Venture”, it added. Sadbhav Engineering was declared lowest bidder by GMRC for the metro rail project for the section from Kadarsha Ni Nal to Dream City Dead End Including Ramp for Depot entry near Dream City and 10 Stations on December 22, 2020.
BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): Railway Minister Piyush Goyal recently held a meeting with senior officials of the Railway Board and the Karnataka government to review the progress of the Bengaluru suburban railway project according to an official statement.
The minister said that the project should be planned in a futuristic manner to incorporate the growing needs of cities like Bengaluru, according to the railway ministry’s statement. The project is expected to be completed by 2026 and envisages construction of four suburban rail corridors with a total route length of 148.17 kms in Bengaluru, the statement noted. “It will integrate multiple modes of transport like the metro, railways and bus transport by constructing interchange hubs. This will ensure a smooth and seamless mode of transport to lakhs of daily commuters,” it added.

There are also three platforms of Metro Rail planned in the stretch from Radisson Square to Bengali Square”, it said. “It is possible to have the metro above the flyover, but the cost will increase by around Rs 10 cr for every 100 metres. At present the metro project is already delayed and the flyovers will delay it further”, the report added..
NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi recentlyt flagged off the world’s first double-stack long-haul container train from New Ateli in Haryana to New Kishanganj in Rajasthan. He also launched the 306-km Rewari-Madar section of the Western dedicated freight corridor (DFC).
“One train carries 360 10-feet container equivalent units (TEU), which is equivalent to 270 high capacity trailer trucks, according to a statement by the Ministry of Railways.
The corridor is expected to boost farming and allied businesses in Haryana and Rajasthan and impart new energy into cities like Mahendragarh, Jaipur, Ajmer and Sikar. The PM spoke of semi-high-speed trains and modern technology for laying down the tracks, and expressed hope that every northeastern state capital will soon be connected with railways.

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India is currently constructing the Western DFC (1,506 km) and Eastern DFC (1,875 km). The Eastern DFC, starting from Sahnewal near Ludhiana in Punjab, will pass through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand and terminate at Dankuni in West Bengal. The Western corridor connecting Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai will cover Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The speed of freight trains is expected to be increased to a maximum of 100 km per hour (kmph) against the current maximum speed of 75 kmph. The average speed of freight trains will also be increased from the existing 26 kmph on railway lines to 70 kmph on DFCs.

VARANASI (Metro Rail News): The proposed Delhi Varanasi High-Speed Rail corridor with a length of about 800 km today gained momentum.The LiDAR (Aerial Ground)survey for Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail Corridor started today from Greater Noida where a helicopter fitted with state of art Aerial LiDAR and Imagery sensors took the first flight and captured the data related to ground survey.
The proposed plan for DVHSR corridor will connect the National Capital Territory with major cities like Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Raebareli, Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Varanasi and Ayodhya. The main corridor from Delhi to Varanasi (Approx. 800 km) will also be connected to Ayodhya.
The High Speed Rail corridor will also connect the upcoming international airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh. National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited is adopting Light Detection and Ranging Survey (LiDAR) technology which provides all the ground details and data in 3-4 months wherein this process normally takes 10-12 months.
“During the Aerial LiDAR survey, 300 meters (150 meters on either side) of the area around the proposed alignment is being captured for the survey purpose. After the collection of data, Three Dimensional (3D) Topographical map of 50 meters corridor on either side of the proposed alignment on a scale of 1:2500 will be available for designing of the vertical & horizontal alignment, structures, location of the stations and depots, Land requirement for the corridor, identification of project affected plots/structures, Right of Way etc,” said a statement issued by NHSRCL.

CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on Thursday invited tenders (bids) for the construction of twin tunnels and 5 underground stations (Package UG-06) between Kolathur and Nathamuni of Chennai Metro’s new 47 km Line-5 which will connect Madhavaram and Sholinganallur through 48 stations according to a news report..
