CHANDIGARH (Metro Rail News): The Indian Railways has begun with the Land Survey for the upcoming high-speed rail project between Delhi & Amritsar on Monday. The survey has been initiated in the Dadiana Village of Punjab.
The socio-economic survey is also being conducted alongside the same, to begin with the land acquisition in the further stages. IIM-Research, New Delhi, has been given the survey Project. The Survey project is being led by teams carved out of IIM-Research who continuously engage with the people on-ground in Fatehgarh Sahib & Mohali districts.
The survey aims to check if the land in the spectrum of acquisition is a primary source of livelihood for its owners. The primary focus of the survey is on agricultural lands.
The railway corridor will have a dedicated 55-foot-wide railway track for bullet trains running at a 320 Km/hr speed to reduce the travel time between Delhi & Amritsar from 5 hours to 2 hours.
It is proposed to originate from Dwarka in Delhi & make stops at Sonepat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar & Amritsar. It is a part of the more significant idea of a High-Speed Rail Network connecting major cities, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Chennai & Kolkata.
