Boney Kapoor travels in Mumbai Metro

Mumbai:  Commuters were in for a surprise when they had a celebrity travelling with them in Mumbai Metro. Film producer and father of Jahanvi Kapoor, Boney Kapoor took to metro over other public transport.

This seemed a bit surprising move given the fact that the producer and husband of late Sridevi avoid travelling in public transport. He is usually seen travelling in his car and likes to keep himself away from media glare.

Looks like Boney Kapoor decided to take the Mumbai Metro to avoid traffic congestion owing to heavy downpour. Kapoor seemed unfazed by the attention as he got down from his luxury car and took to the elevators to board the metro.

While the commuters kept on looking in disbelief, Kapoor walked past the crowd and got himself a ticket to metro. This morning there was heavy traffic and so Boney decided to take Metro and reach the destination faster.

He was spotted wearing a blue hodie paired with jogging pants. The shutterbugs caught his entry and were busy capturing this entry to the Mumbai Metro station. Boney was busy talking on the phone and did not show discomfort on being clicked. In fact, he even looked straight towards the photographer.

It is rarely seen a celebrity taking metro to travel within Mumbai. With Boney Kapoor taking metro, he has set an example of sorts for others to follow. He decided to chuck his car and hop on to a metro to avoid traffic.

We hope other celebrity decide to chuck their car and hitch a ride in a metro.

New Delhi: On Thursday evening, a large incident was rescued when a part of the guardrail fell between Lajpat Nagar and Jangpura Metro Station in violet line. The railing fell down when the metro was passing from there. This railing collapsed over the subway. However, no casualties have occurred in this incident.

After the railing fell, the metro was stopped and the passengers were taken off the road and taken to the safe station through the track. Let it be said that this is one of the busiest routes in the metro that connects Delhi with Faridabad in Haryana. After this incident on the Kashmiri Gate-Escort Mujesar. People are facing inconvenience due to the service disrupted. Because the incident happened at a time when people were returning home from their office

The rains in Delhi-NCR have once again put people in trouble. Due to the rain, the guardrail on the Metro track fell on the Violet Line between Lajpat Nagar and Jangpura Station at 4.05 Pm. It got stuck in the gate of the Metro passing through it. After which the Metro services had to stop. During this time, passengers aboard the metro were removed from the rear gate. Work to removal guardrail was started by keeping Metro services closed for a few hours. Metro lines were started from 6.47 pm between Central Secretariat and Nehru Place on both lines.

According to the information, between Jangpura and Lajpat Nagar station, the guardrail in the side of the track on either side of the metro fell. The railing was trapped in a metro door passing through it, causing the metro to stop immediately. According to the passengers, there was such a loud noise as the collision of the railings, such a blast occurred.

Passengers traveling in the metro were evacuated from the rear emergency door. There is no information of any harm to the commuters in this incident. DMRC said that this incident happened due to sudden rain and wind in Delhi.

Newly constructed violet line incident has greatly disappointed commuters. The incident might have greatly affected the commuter’s life. Since 2002 Delhi Metro is running but till now such incident has not been occurred, now this big question on DMRC that 16 year old constructed railing has never fell down till now and how 1 year newly constructed railing fell down in normal weather condition.

With metro expansion, the monorail project remains grounded

Chennai: Looks like Monorail projects are finding it tough to gain grounds in the country. Earlier it was the Mumbai Monorail project where the curtain came down. Now it seems Chennai Monorail Project too seem to have its faith sealed.  The ambitious project is grounded with authorities planning to expand metro rail network across Chennai.

The ambitious project of Monorail was announced by late chief minister Jayalalithaa. This project is not likely to take off as the focus is to expand metro network. The future of the project seems uncertain at the moment.

While participating in a debate for the demand on grants for the Transport Department in the Assembly, Anbil Mahesh, DMK MLA questioned the M.R. Vijayabhaskar , the transport Minister regarding the current status of the monorail project.

Mahesh during the discussion pointed out that the status of the monorail project which was talked about in the Policy Note of 2017-18 has not been mentioned in this year’s policy note.

Pained with the project being shelved, Mahesh reminded everyone that the monorail project was close to the heart of former CM Jayalalithaa. In a sarcastic tone he also added that with monorail dropped, does the ruling government think that Metro Rail, a project launched under DMK regime is an efficient mode of transport over monorail.

The ruling party during the discussion, intervened to explain the reason for dropping monorail. P. Thangamani, electricity minister shared that when monorail project was launched, it was planned for narrow roads. When tender was invited the authorities did not receive expected response. For this reason the project did not take off.

On the other hand, the metro rail project had taken off and this facility was extended to other parts of the city leading to high increase in cost.

The minister later on clarified that the monorail project is not dumped. It will be taken up post modification in routes and other dimensions.

As per the information, in the Policy Note it was noticeably stated that the Pallavan Transport Consultancy Services, the nodal agency for executing the monorail project, has been ‘attached’ to the Institute of Road Transport because of sustaining losses to the tune of Rs. 41 lakh.

Visakhapatnam: The State government will allot 250 acres land for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project in Visakhapatnam, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said.

Vizag metro is a rapid transit system in Visakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh. The system is proposed to reduce traffic as was as providing a good public transport system in the city which is the largest city and the main hub of economic activity for Andra Pradesh.

The metro rail project was planned by Great Vishakhapatnam Municipal corporation (GVMC). To calm down the traffic condition on the streets.

The reports will also consider operating losses and based on expert advice mention recommended changes while preparing a draft for Vizag Metro Rail Project. As per the preliminary plan, the Vizag Metro Rail project will be completed into three corridors covering 42.55 km and the approximate project cost is estimated at Rs 8,800 crore. This cost excludes the land and the R&D cost that will be incurred while constructing the Visakhapatnam metro project.

Addressing officials at a review meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said permissions required for the project would be discussed in the Cabinet meeting.

“The land allotted can be developed on commercial lines and the revenue thus generated utilized for construction of the project. Tenders have to be invited as soon as permissions are granted,” Mr. Naidu said.

Officials told the Chief Minister that five companies had been short-listed for the ₹8,300 crore project, which was being taken up under the “innovative PPP mode.”

Elevated corridors and stations would come up at an estimated cost of ₹4,200 crore. The developer would have to maintain the project for 30 years, the officials told Mr. Naidu.

Kolkata: A trial run on 3km stretch between Central Park and Sector V was conducted on Wednesday on East-West metro. In October the lines that connect Sector V with a salt lake stadium is expected to be open. This line will be opened 34 years after another metro’s in Kolkata. India’s first metro that was open for thrown public in October 1984.

On Wednesday, the people were on their rooftops to catch the event on their phones. People were standing at the top of Bikash Bhavan, HSBC building. From inside the metro, one could see all the people.

Even, on the terraces of the nursing home, white-coated doctor and nurses were also spotted.

Officials and engineers from Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation(KMRC), PSU Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) and the implementing agency of the 16.5 km project on board there were around 60 people.

The test run started at 3.46pm, but the rake braked after a few meters. It restarted at 4:10 pm, only to stop again, yards from the crashed inside the central park depot. The train was shunted to the tracks by the electric bogey tractor since the third rail was charged away from the charged for safety reasons during the trial run.

Chennai: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL)in association with BNY Mellon Technology Private Limited as part of corporate social responsibility activity conducted a Joy Ride for students of Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary for the Deaf and Blind in the Metro Train on July 4th 2018 (Today) from AG-DMS to Airport.

A total of 150 differently abled children and their teachers and volunteers participated in this trip enthusiastically.Here are some glimpses of the ride taken by the students and teachers:

In an attempt to bring awareness to the students of Government Schools across the Metro Rail alignment in the city, CMRL has commenced its monthly educational trip from Central Metro to Airport and AG-DMS to Airport for the students. The students will be explained the features of the Metro Train and its Stations during the trip.

The educational trips for this academic year 2018-19 commenced from 21.06.18 and a total of 1993 students from Government and Corporation Schools have taken this education trips till date.

This corporate social responsibility by Chennai Metro aims to help connect more and more commuters to the metro ride.

Amaravati: The Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project that is reeling under stagnancy might pick up pace. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation officials to speed up work on Visakhapatnam Metro Rail. He has asked officials to expedite work at the earliest.

Naidu has also assured that the state government will be give all the necessary support and permission once it gets nod from the cabinet. The CM wants to ensure that the project gains momentum and is commissioned at the earliest.

A review meeting was organised by Naidu along with AMRC MD N P Ramakrishna Reddy and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana at the Secretariat.

The meeting was to take stock of things and CM urged the officials to speed up Vizag Metro Rail works.

In order to fasten up work, Naidu has also directed the metro officials to float tenders for Vizag Metro. CM has asked that the tender be invited within 60 days once it gets a nod from the state government.

Offering all possible support and assurance, Naidu has communicated that the government will allotting 250 acres of land for the metro project. The land will be given to the Metro Rail Corporation to lay down metro lines. CM also added that the corporation can later on work towards raise funds in order to repay loans to the bank. In order to recover the money, the corporation can also look forward to developing the metro land commercially to plough back the investment.

Ironically the Vizag Metro rail was to be floated to improve traffic situation in the city. The mass rapid transport system was to help decongest the traffic on roads.  As per the initial detailed project report the metro project is estimated to cost Rs 12,500 crore  and comprises of three corridors and will carry over 5.85  lakh commuters per day.

Bengaluru:  With Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation’s (BMRCL) missing several deadline with regards to completion of work for phase 2, state government feels they will meet the 2021 deadline. The target seems ambitious given the deadlines being missed by the JD(S)-Congress coalition government feels the deadline in achievable for Bangalore Metro.

There are doubts whether BMRCL will be able to meet deadline as work is not being carried out as per desired pace. In the second phase the Bangalore metro project will cover a stretch of 118 km. In the joint session of the Legislature Governor VR Vala shared a 19-page insight on the project’s progress. During the speech Vala highlighted the priorities as well gave broad perspective to the government.

Namma Metro Phase II, which consists of four extensions of Phase I and two new lines, furthermore covers the 19-km Outer Ring Road stretch from the Central Silk Board junction to KR Puram (Phase II-A) and the 30-km stretch from Nagawara to the Kempegowda international airport (Phase II-B). When concluded, Phase II is likely to have a regular ridership of 20 lakh people, the governor shared. The metro at present has a daily ridership of less than 4 lakh.

In a review done by BMRCL, the work on second phase is running behind the deadline. It is almost three years behind the schedule. Ironically it is the Mysuru Road and Kanakapura Road extensions will be up and running by 2021. In fact as per earlier estimate work on this stretch has to be completed by this year itself.  Work on this stretch has slowed down. It was expected that after governor’s speech, state government will look to revise the deadline, but that has not happened yet.

Governor in his speech has stated that the current government will work towards improving civic infrastructure, housing, water management and traffic control systems. He also said that public will have access to free Wi-Fi along with installation of close circuit cameras offering security to one and all.
