Seven Firms Participate For The General Consultancy Bid Of Chennai Metro Line-4

CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): Seven global project management firms have submitted tenders for Chennai Metro Line-4’s General Consultant (GC) contract, after the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) opened technical bids for this.
Chennai’s new 26.09 km east-west Line-4 of the 118.9 km Chennai Metro Phase 2 project will connect Lighthouse with Poonamallee Bypass via Porur through 30 stations – 18 elevated and 12 underground.
CMRL had originally invited EOI proposals on January 11, 2020, to assign a General Consultant with an objective to assist with design, supervision, safety, quality control and contract management.
On June 16, CMRL received EOI applications from 9 bidders out of which 2 did not qualify.

These bidders are :

(1) JV of M/s Auding Intraesa SA Spain, M/s Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, India and M/s STUP Consultants Pvt. Ltd, India.

(2) JV of M/s Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (Shair and Partners) s.a.l. (DAR), Balaji Railroad Systems Pvt. Ltd. (BARSYL) and China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd.

(3).JV of M/s AECOM Asia Company Ltd., M/s Systra and M/s. Consulting Engineers Group Ltd.JV of M/s Egis Rail SA, M/s MM SPA, M/s Italferr SPA and M/s Surbano Jurong Infrastructure Pte Ltd.

(4). JV of M/s Louis Berger SAS, M/s Geodata Engineering SpA and M/s Hill International Inc.

(5). JV of M/s TPF Getinsa Eurostudios S.L, M/s Artelia SAS & M/s Rodic Consultants Pvt. Ltd.JV of M/s RITES Ltd, M/s Nippon Koei India Pvt. Ltd, M/s Nippon Koei Co. Ltd, M/s Arup India Pvt. Ltd and Ove Arup & Partners International Ltd.

This consultancy service and the line’s 2 elevated packages are proposed to be financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). In December 2019, AIIB approved a concept proposal to lend USD 356.65 million for a portion of the project.

Dogus-Soma Resumes Mumbai Metro’s TBM 1239 towards Mahalaxmi

MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): Recently, Workers from Dogus-Soma JV recommissioned their second tunnel boring machine (TBM) 1239 from Science Museum Station’s southern-end towards Mahalaxmi Station for Mumbai Metro’s 33.5 km underground Line-3 (Aqua Line).
This 6.65m Robbins slurry machine, nicknamed Tansa 2, had achieved a breakthrough at Worli Station in March 2020 from Science Museum Station after a 2057 meter journey for building the down-line tunnel to record the second out of 6 planned for package UGC-03 (Worli – Mumbai Central). Following that, its cutter head and shields – weighing 480 MT – were retrieved as one complete unit in August, transported through the city’s streets, and lowered back into Science Museum in September.
This weekend, the TBM began its second assignment to build the 1118m up-line tunnel towards Mahalaxmi Station from where it will be dragged to the station box’s southern-end and recommissioned onwards to Mumbai Central Station for its final 837m assignment.

Its sister machine TBM 1238 (Tansa-1), which was recommissioned in September for the parallel down-line tunnel, has since built 74 rings (approx. 103 meters) towards Mahalaxmi Station.

NHSRCL Opens Bids for Alignment Design & Survey Works of Delhi – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): RITES and Three other firms have emerged as the lowest bidders for 4 packages over the past 2 weeks to help prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the upcoming 886 km Delhi – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project which will connect both cities with 12 stations on the corridor.
NHSRCL had invited tenders (bids) for these four packages with varying lengths of completion in early September which deal with preparing a final alignment design (including aerial LiDAR survey), carrying out a ridership (traffic) study, preparing General Arrangement Drawings and data collection surveying work.

Two Passengers Inaugurate A New Metro Station Building of Kochi Metro

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Vandana P S of Palarivatom and George C G of Ernakulam South, two metro commuters, achieved a rare feat by inaugurating the new Metro station building at Ernakulam South Metro Station, the tallest building along the alignment. 
Kochi Metro invited two of its passengers to inaugurate the Building at the left side of the alignment (from Aluva side). Though the South Metro Station was inaugurated in last September only one side of the metro station was working and construction was progressing on the other side. The new South Metro station building is the tallest metro building and it consists of twelve floors. The building is 56 metres high. The Metro station has an area of 5400 sqm for transit area and property development of about 6000sqm above the platform which is suitable for various businesses. KMRL is also planning to construct a multi-level car parking facility there”, it said.

“It’s a great gesture. I was surprised when people from the metro asked me to be a guest and cut the ribbon. I used to ride the metro every other day, so it’s a special day for me” said Vandana. George also expressed his happiness.

Vandana reached the Metro Station to travel to her house at Palarivattom while George was on his way to Vyttila. George is a resident of Ernakulam South and he is running a hotel there. Vandana meanwhile is a counsellor by profession. 
Kochi Metro already has constructed an access road to MG Road with a pedestrian walkway and a plaza at Jos junction as part of the Kochi Metro’s Urban placemaking initiatives.

Paras Railtech Emerges as the Winner for Track-Works of Delhi Metro’s Ajronda & Sarita Vihar Depots

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Paras Railtech has emerged as the lowest bidder to supply tracks to Delhi Metro’s existing Ajronda and Sarita Vihar depots on the Violet Line (Line-6) for augmenting additional maintenance facilities as part of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project.
DMRC had invited bids for this track-work contract at both depots in May 2020 with an estimated cost of Rs 22.70 crore and expects the assigned contractor to complete work in 24 months. Technical bids were opened on October 9 to reveal 3 bidders, and during technical bid evaluation Paras Railtech was the only firm that qualified to the next round of financial bid opening. The other bidders were disqualified.

YFC Projects in October emerged as the lowest bidder for Sarita Vihar’s reconstruction (Package DC-26) which includes a cut & cover ramp section and other civil works.

Three Firms Participate in the Bid for Roof-Work of Delhi – Meerut RRTS Under Package 12B

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) recently opened technical bids for the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS Line‘s Package 12B which revealed that three firms have submitted bids to design, supply and erect pre-engineered steel roof structures at 12 elevated stations.
NCRTC had invited bids for this work in 2 lots in September right after Sam India Builtwell emerged as the lowest bidder for Package 12A for similar roof-work at Package 1 and 2’s Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai stations.
For Package 12B, 7 of these 12 stations form a part of the 33 km Package 3 (under construction by Larsen & Toubro) – the ones at Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani & Shatabdi Nagar.
NCRTC’s combined estimate is $8.71 million (Rs 63.79 crore) and it expect the assigned contractor(s) to complete all civil work in 1358 days.

MMRDA Invites Bids for Mumbai Metro Line-4’s Head Hardened Rails

MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited bids to supply 9800 MT of Head Hardened Rails for Mumbai Metro’s 32.32 km Line-4 and 2.88 km Line-4A (Green Line) which will connect Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh through 34 elevated stations.
These rails will be 60E1 – 1080 grade as per Indian Railway Specification T-12-2009 and manufactured through a special heat treatment process to provide additional strength, lower residual stress, elongate track-life and minimize maintenance.
Scope of the work includes Supply of 9800 MT 60E1 (UIC-60), 1080 Grade Head Hardened (HH) Rails as per IRS T-12-2009 for Line-4 [Bhakti Park – Kasavadavali] and extension corridor [Kasaravadavli – Gaimukh] of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA.
Estimated Cost of the project is Rs 80.46 Crores while the deadline for the work is 15 months.

Four Firms submit bids for Construction of Underground Line of Surat Metro

AHMEDABAD (Metro Rail News): Four firms have submitted 6 tenders (bids) to build 2 underground (tunnel & station work) packages CS2 and CS3 of the 40.35 km Surat Metro Phase 1 project, after the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) opened technical bids to reveal the bidders.
These civil packages with twin tunnels between Chowk Bazar and Kapodra, in the core of the city, on the 21.61 km Line-1 (Sarthana – Dream City) are 3.46 km and 3.56 km long, and each comprises of 3 cut & cover stations with some Box Pushing and New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) work for station connectivity.
GMRC had invited tenders (bids) for both packages in July 2020 with estimates of Rs 929.46 and Rs 942.16 crore respectively and expects the assigned contractor(s) to complete all civil work in 40 months after the contracts are awarded.
The firms which have submitted the bids are Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Gulermak – Sam India Builtwell JV and J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd.
Scope of CS2 includes Design, construction and completion of Underground stations and tunnel including Finishes from Kapodra Ramp to Surat Railway station from chainage 3700m to chainage 7160.6m, comprising twin bored underground tunnel between northern ramp and Surat Railway Metro station, all cut and a cover portion including Three underground stations viz. Kapodra, Labheshwar Chowk and Central Warehouse with entry/exits & connecting subway by Box pushing method and a portion of NATM and Launching and receiving chambers of TBM for Surat Metro Rail Project, Phase-I.

Scope of CS3 includes Design, construction and completion of Underground stations and tunnel including Finishes from Surat Railway station To Chowk Bazar Ramp from chainage 7160.6m to chainage 10720m, comprising twin bored underground tunnel between Surat Railway station and south ramp, all cut and a cover portion including Three underground stations viz. Chowk bazaar, Maskati Hospital and Surat Railway Station with entry/exits & connecting subway by Box pushing method and a portion of NATM and Launching and receiving chambers of TBM for Surat Metro Rail Project, Phase-I.

No covid constraints for KMRL’s construction

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Kochi Metro Rail Limited has completed the piling works of the viaduct from Petta to SN Junction, the Phase 1 A of Kochi Metro. A total of 259 viaduct piles are completed and piling for the SN Junction Metro Station is also completed.
“Kochi Metro MD Alkesh Kumar Sharma IAS inspected the worksite. He also inspected the ongoing construction work at Panamkutty Bridge. He reviewed the progress and urged the contractor to speed up the work. Top officials of KMRL also accompanied him during the site inspection”, the KMRL said in a statement.

The Phase I (A) Extension of Kochi Metro consists of two Stretches, first from Petta to SN Junction including 2 Stations viz Vadakkekotta and SN Junction & Panamkutty Bridge to be constructed at a cost of Rs.299.87 crores. 
Phase 1(B) extension from Sn Junction to Thripunithura includes one station of Thrippunithura Terminal (Phase IB) with a cost of Rs 162.98 crores. The tender for the stretch from SN Junction to Thrippunithura Terminal was called on May 18, 2020. The tender was opened on July 14, 2020, and successfully awarded to M/s KEC – VNC JV within the shortest period of 20 days. The work commenced on September 25, 2020. KMRL has completed seven Piles in the stretch so far.  
The construction of Panamkutty bridge is also progressing fast. As part of its Preparatory works in line with Phase I Extension from Petta to Thrippunithura, KMRL is constructing an additional two-lane Bridge with a footpath which will make the stretch into Four-lane corridor (two bridges) once completed. The bridge consists of 5 spans. The total length including approach road is 250m in which around 70m is across Poorna River. Approximate Cost of Construction – 17.2 Cr and the expected completion date is December 2020.
