Ahmedabad ( Metro Rail News): The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project has achieved a major milestone with the casting of 5,169 girders. Recently, two key casting yards, located in Vadodara and Vapi, have each produced 1,000 Full Span Box Girders (FSBG). The girders measure – 40 metres in length and weigh 970 metric tons.
Casting yards
The girders have been cast in the casting yards at Vadodara and Vapi. Each yard successfully produced 1,000 full-span box Girders (FSBG). The project MAHSR operates 11 casting yards equipped with machinery and technologies made in India, promoting the “Make in India” initiative.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor
Out of the 508-kilometre bullet train corridor, the section within Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli covers a distance of 352 km. It features 290 km of the viaduct by full-span launching (FSLM) route with 17 steel bridges, eight stations, a 250 m tunnel and other civil structures.
Currently, 213 km of viaduct have been completed in Gujarat, including both SBS (span by span) and FLSM launching.
