Sharing achievements of the Company, Mrs. Mamta Shah, Director (Planning & Corporate Affairs) and Managing Editor of Metro Rail News said that the Company has crossed Rs.10 Lakh turnover in last financial year in a short interval of the time and growth rate of company is about 450%. The company was started in September 2016 from her residence with only two part-time visionaries and their dedication & hard work brings this company at this stage. Now our Company has well settled office with 10 regular employees and other part-timers.

She further said that this channel of communication between employees and Director will help them stay in touch with each other much more whereby they will be able to share they day to day working experience. Hazrat Nizamuddin metro station to be a major transit hub

New Delhi: The Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station on the Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar Pink corridor of Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 will be one of the Metro network’s major transit hubs as the station would provide direct connectivity with the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station as well as the Sarai Kale Khan Inter State Bus Terminus.

The station will have dedicated entry/exit points connecting to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station and the ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan. One of the entry/exit points will be within a vicinity of 50 metres from the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Another entry/exit will be near the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station approximately at a distance of 150 metres.

This station will be a major boost from the point of view of connectivity as both the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station and the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT do not have any Metro connectivity presently. The nearest Metro stations are at least 3 to 4 kilometres away. The station will also be equipped with broad staircases and escalators for the convenience of the passengers.

The famous Indraprasth Park and the upcoming Seven Wonders project will be at the walking distance from Hazrat Nizamuddin station. The Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station also provides connectivity to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station as well as the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT there.

The Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station will also have drop off bays near its three entry/exit points as per the Multi Modal Integration (MMI) plan. Adequate greening and beautification have been done around the underground station and tabletop pedestrian crossings have been provided on the roads in the vicinity for the movement of the pedestrians. The station has also been adorned by 30 artworks which portray the historical heritage of the nearby areas. Thematic impressions and ‘jharokhas’ have also been used to beautify the station.

The major challenges faced during the construction of the Hazrat Nizamuddin station was the very high water table and highly varying geotechnical conditions (varying from garbage filled top layer to good soil to sandy soil to highly weathered rock to very hard rock within the stretch of just 265 meters). Controlled blasting was also adopted to break the very hard rock.

Due to highly varying geotechnical conditions, half of the station was constructed by bottom-up approach and other half by top-down approach. The diversion of Ring Road was also a big challenge. There were innumerable power as well as Delhi Jal Board utilities (both underground and overhead) which had to be meticulously diverted so that the services rendered by these utilities did not suffer.

The Hazrat Nizamuddin is the 3rd biggest railway terminus of the national capital after New Delhi and Delhi. Most south bound trains including Rajdhani and super fast trains originate from here. The Sarai Kale Khan ISBT is one of three major bus terminuses of Delhi along with Kashmere Gate and Anand Vihar. Buses for various locations in Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh originate from here.

Delhi Metro | New centralized online monitoring of lifts and escalators to start

New Delhi: Delhi Metro commuters often complain about escalators stop moving suddenly or remain out of use for days. Now, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning a centralized online monitoring of all the escalators as well as elevators, which number over 1,500 across the entire Delhi Metro network. The central command center will be notified immediately about any glitch and the concerned station control room will be intimated to fix the problem right away. Initially, it is being implemented on the 59 km long Pink Line between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar, which is also the longest corridor of Delhi Metro.

The line covers 38 metro stations, which have 135 elevators and 215 escalators. Out of these, 56 elevators and 106 escalators are already being used by the public and the balance equipment will be made available on the opening of the other sections for revenue operation later this year, the report stated.

Anuj Dayal, Executive Director of Corporate Communications, DMRC was quoted in the report saying that in order to monitor the increased number of elevators and escalators effectively, Delhi Metro has invited bids to explore the use of technology for centralized monitoring of elevators and escalators provided on the Pink Line. He further informed that on the basis of the outcome, the future course of action shall be decided. For metro commuters, elevators and escalators are important facilities as they help commuters negotiate different levels, such as concourse, ground as well as platform at the metro stations and with the expansion of the Delhi Metro network, the numbers of elevators and escalators are increasing, he mentioned and also informed that all elevators and escalators of Phase III project were energy efficient.

While elaborating the system, Dayal said that the status, as well as fault codes, are already available individually at each elevator and escalator. The information will be taken from each equipment and using the matching communication protocol, it will be brought to the station control room. Then, the information, from each station will be sent to a central server using the communication network. Following this, the concerned officers will be authorized to access the information at the central server, which can be used to check the operational status, plan maintenance requirements and also to carry out different analysis, which shall evolve gradually over a period of time. At the command center, once a fault is detected, the station control room would be asked to fix the problem. He added that even though the process of rectification is likely to remain the same, the response shall be faster, which is likely to reduce the downtime of equipment.

Dilip Buildcon lowest bidder for Indore Metro project

Indore: It has emerged as the favored bidder to build a 5.3 km stretch of the upcoming metro rail system in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said Dilip Buildcon.

The development start to come barely a month after DBL was declared the lowest bidder for the Bhopal Metro project in the state.

This current bid is to build an elevated viaduct between the ISBT flyover and Mumtaj Bag Colony, excluding the stations.

Dilip Buildcon offered to build the track for Rs 229 cr.

Even though Dilip Buildcon is lowest bidder it is not clear whether bids for contract for the construction of the metro station have been handed out or not.

The total time period for construction of elevated track will be approximate 27 months.

According to the rule government contract are awarded to the L1 or level 1 bidder unless some major discrepancy is found in the bid submitted by the participant.

The lowest bidder in the tender process is usually L1 bidders.

In 1998 the Dilip Buildicon founded, which headquarter in Bhopal and projects itself as India’s fastest growing road development company.

The Dilip Buildicon is working via two models namely EPC Projects and Toll Operation, and develops highway, city roads, culvert, bridges, irrigation, facilities, water supply, coal mining, water sanitation and sewage.

Bangalore Metro | Security man demands riders to speak in Hindi

Bengaluru: A commuter travelling in Bangalore Metro had a rather bizarre experience. A security staff member stationed at Lalbaugh Metro Station demanded a senior IT manger to speak in Hindi with him. This was a rather ‘rude behaviour’ which caught the commuter off-guard.

The incident took place when a senior manager from well-known IT firm was travelling in metro. He was not very happy when a security staff member put up unruly demand.

The agitated commuters logged a complaint with customer care and ticketing staff as well. Going a step further he also conveyed the incident to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) top officials.

As per the commuters, Prakash (name withheld on request) was rushing towards the metro station during rains. He was to take a train and escape from the rains. Prakash asked the security guard at the station regarding elevator. The staff in turn ordered him to only speak with him in Hindi. The demand took the traveller by surprise. This incident took place on September 15 at Bangalore Metro Station.

While speaking to Indian Express the commuter shared his experience. He was quoted as, “Brandishing his ‘lathi’ and hitting it on his own left hand, he asked me if I knew Hindi. He then told me to learn Hindi.”

Prakash felt that it is okay if the security guard was not well-versed with Kannada. He felt that the guard could have politely put up the request since Prakash can fluently speak in Hindi as well.

He also tweeted it to BMRCL Public Relations Officer U A Vasanth Rao: Can the BMRCL Security guards be polite & courteous to people? Just because I spoke in kannada – it does not mean he has to abuse and threaten me…”

His second tweet read: Have made a verbal complaint to Ticketing Staff & Customer Care person on Security guard abusive behaviour for speaking in kannada this evening. Security guard does not speak kannada or allows anyone to speak in Kannada at Metro. Is it right thing at Karnataka?”

When CPRO was asked about the incident, he said he was not aware about it. But he assured that he will find out and get back to the press.

This is not the first time such an incident has come to light. Such incidents have happened in past and BMRCL had also proposed posting on Kannada-speaking staffers across all Bangalore Metro stations.

Mumbai Metro | Airport Metro line likely to hit roadblock

Mumbai: Looks like the case of double trouble for the Airport Line. As per sources this line may hit a roadblock as well. The reason being that execution delay in the CST-Panvel elevated corridor which is likely cause a setback.

This setback will be for the proposed construction of high-speed metro by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) that will link Mumbai Airport to Navi Mumbai airport. This project is under construction.

As per the plan the high-speed metro corridor will run parallel to the CST-Panvel elevated corridor. It will begin from Mankhurd with an intersection near Nerul heading towards Navi Mumbai airport.

MMRDA official shared that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is in the process of preparing detailed report for the project. But, if there further delay in building CST-Panvel corridor, it may hold-up construction of the proposed high-speed metro linking the airports.

The MMRDA official further added that proposed metro corridor will run parallel to the CST-Panvel elevated corridor. It will have an intersection near Nerul. They cannot construct the metro prior to construction of CST-Panvel elevated corridor. On the other hand, precise alignment is yet to be decided.

As per the plan the metro corridor is likely to begin from International Airport wherein it is expected to split its terminal with the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3 underground corridor from where it will run underground up to Ghatkopar. From Ghatkopar, it will be elevated till Mankhurd from where additionally it will convene at the planned CST-Panvel elevated metro corridor.

According to the plan, the high-speed corridor between two airport will be operational round the clock as planned by MMRDA.

Taking into consideration that it links both the two airports it will be advantageous for those who have connecting flights from these two airports during night. But the frequency at night may not be same as that during the day.

Mumabi Metro | MMOPL introduces additional train services in off peak hours

Mumbai: The Reliance Infrastructure promoted Mumbai Metro One (MMOPL) has taken yet another commuter friendly decision by announcing 44 additional trips in the off peak hours. This takes the total tally of Metro services from current 396 to 440 operated on weekdays. Keeping in mind the ongoing and upcoming festivities, footfalls are likely to go up as more and more commuters along with their families would prefer Metro as a dependable mode of transport.

RInfra backed Mumbai Metro One has brought respite to millions of Mumbaikars since inception, by providing seamless and comfortable travel and offering services that are responsive to an average commuter. In the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor, Mumbai Metro has not only become the preferred mode of public transport but also demonstrated its reliability of operations during all seasons of the year. The last year (2017-18) marked high performance levels with 99.9% punctuality and 100% train availability as Mumbai Metro operated around 1,30,000 train trips.

In last one year, Mumbai Metro One has taken various measures to make commuters’ journey comfortable. In various phases, it has increased train services from 370 to 382 to 396 on weekdays. It has done improvements and additions to station layout, ticketing counters, AFC gates, baggage scanning machines and security facilities to ensure commuter convenience.

Now, Mumbai Metro has increased train services from 396 to 440 during off peak hours between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It means Metro service will be now available every 5 minutes instead of 8 minutes during this slot. The best part is that commuter wait time has been drastically cut down by 3 minutes. Mumbai Metro initiated trial runs of increased frequency services from Wednesday, 19^th September. However, full-fledged services will begin w.e.f. Monday, 24^th September. The 44 additional trips can handle nearly 66,000 commuters.

“Considering the prevailing festive spirit, this is a commuter-friendly stance of MMOPL to encourage more and more people to use Mumbai Metro and thus improve their travel experience and enable saving their money and time. We are extremely delighted to increase our train services from 396 to 440 trips. Lucknow Metro | LMRC completes the work of track laying in upline tunnel

Lucknow Metro to Complete North-South Corridor by February

Lucknow: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has achieved another milestone while completing the work for the underground section between the Charbagh Metro station ramp & the K. D. Singh Stadium Metro station ramp by completing the track laying work in the UPLINE tunnel of this underground section.

LMRC is using the Mass Spring System (an elastomer pad of 25mm thickness) below the track bed for construction of track. Mass Spring System, procured from Austria, eliminates the problem of vibration and sound in adjoining structures of the underground portion.

For the construction of track, first of all the Elastomer Mass Spring System sheet is laid, then reinforcement mesh is laid over this and then it is filled with concrete up to the rail bottom. Rails are wielded continuously to avoid any joint in the rails.

The track laying work in the DOWNLINE tunnel of the underground section is also in its penultimate phase and there is a clear possibility of its completion within the next 10 days. Besides track lying, Lucknow Metro has also completed almost 70% work of the Rigid Overhead Catenary System (ROCS) i.e. overhead electrification which is being carried out inside both the tunnels for traction power.

Apart from this, the work of entrance and exit gateways at all underground stations is almost complete. More than 50% of tiling and beautification work at the concourse and platform area of all the three underground Metro station (i.e. Hussainganj, Sachivalaya & Hazratganj) has also been completed. The construction work of all the important rooms related with Metro rail operations such as the Electrical, UPS, DV Room, Telecom & Security Room etc. is also being done at a fast pace.

Prime Minister to lay foundation stone of world-class convention centre

New Delhi: On 20 September the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) in New Delhi.

The ministry said that the facilities provided at the center will be on a par with the best in the world in size and quality, offering setting for international and national events, meetings, conferences, exhibitions and trade shows the ministry said in a statement

He further added that it will rank among the top 10 in the world and the biggest indoor exhibition space in India,” the project is expected to generate over 5 lakh employment opportunities.

The project is planned for an area of 221.37 acre in Sector 25, Dwarka here, with an estimated cost of Rs 25,703 crore.

The IICC will be an integrated complex which will provide various facilities like exhibition halls, convention center, and open exhibition spaces, mixed use commercial spaces like star hotels (5, 4 and 3 star), retail services and high-end offices.

The construction will be in done with green building principles and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum rating standards.

The convention center can accommodate total 11,000 persons, 5 exhibition halls, 1-kilometre long foyer, and multi-purpose arena with retractable roof.

This project will be developed in two phases. The Phase-I and Phase II will be completed by December 2019 and December 2024, respectively.

The IICC will have a dedicated underground Metro station which will be an extension of the airport high speed metro corridor and is being constructed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

This project will be completely being implemented by India International Convention and Exhibition Centre Ltd, a 100 per cent government-owned company set up by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).

DELHI METRO | DMRC organize online slogan writing competition from today

New Delhi: On 20^th September the Delhi Metro (midnight), as part of its various initiatives under the “Swachhata Hi Sewa” theme of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” is organizing an “Online Slogan Writing Competition” on the topic “Clean Metro, Clean Delhi.”

The Delhi Metro’s Mission says that “Our ‘trains’ and ‘premises’ shall be spotlessly clean”. As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ theme of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” , the Delhi Metro intends to involve the passengers in its initiatives and make them equal stakeholders in the process of making the Metro as well as Delhi city clean.

This competition is open to all Smart Card Users of the Delhi Metro. Nukkad Natak (Street Plays) is being organized at all interchange and other major Metro stations to sensitize people about the importance of cleanliness. There were also banners to create awareness about cleanliness are being displayed at stations.

In addition, cleanliness drives are being organized at all Metro stations, offices, residential colonies and construction sites of DMRC. For this awards will be also given to the best maintained Metro station, best construction site and residential colony as an incentive for maintaining cleanliness.
