KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Parliamentary standing committee on Urban Development consisting of Members of Parliament led by Shri Jagadambika Pal, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the committee along with his team travelled in Kochi Metro Rail from JawaharLal Nehru Station to Muttom metro station. They were on their inspections at various places in Kochi.

Some of the trains are already being driven by women employees.

Medha Servo Bags Tender Worth Rs 2211 Crore for Vande Bharat Train Sets
NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): The Indian Railways recently awarded Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd a ₹2,211 crore tender for procurement of Vande Bharat Express or Train 18.The contract includes designing and manufacturing propulsion, control and other equipment required for making 44 rakes of Vande Bharat-type train sets in a recent development.
“Indian Railways has awarded the work of design and manufacturing of propulsion, control & other equipment for making 44 rakes (16 car each) of ‘Vande Bharat’ type train sets,” the Railway Ministry said via twitter.
“The contract is worth around ₹2,211 crore and has been awarded to the Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad,” an official was stated saying.
Earlier in August, the Railways had cancelled the tender for the manufacturing of the 44 rakes of Train 18, which has been re-christened as Vande Bharat Express. The scrapped tender had allowed indigenous content of 50%.The move came after the Chinese joint venture company CRRC Pioneer Electric (India) Private Limited emerged as the only foreign bidder among the six contenders for manufacturing the semi-high speed trains.In September, the tender was floated again, mandating 75% local content, making it an indigenous contract.
Pune Metro Jobs: Last Date To Apply For Recruitment Exam Extended
PUNE (Metro Rail News): The last date to apply for the exam for the recruitment of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Junior Engineer, Technician and other posts in Pune Metro has been extended.
The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited has extended the date till January 31 2021.The online applications are open since December 10 2020. Earlier the last date for online application was January 21 2021.
However, now the MahaMetro has extended the deadline for online application.
Candidates who want to appear for the exam can apply on mahametro.org. They can apply for Multiple post basis their qualification.

LUCKNOW (Metro Rail News): In a webinar organized by Lucknow Management Association on the theme of ‘Future of Metro Services’, Mr. Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro, described Metro Rail Transport as the backbone of urban transport system and said that under increasing pressure on cities, Metro has emerged as the best option for intercity transportation. He said that Lucknow Metro has achieved the fastest ridership recovery after Covid and the cleanliness measures taken during this period will be continued in future also, even after situation becomes normal.

Referring to the research conducted by her institute, Director of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ms. Kavita Pathak said that Metro has made successful efforts to spread awareness about various facilities like, Go Smart Card and Ticket Vending Machine.
Speaking on the occasion he also highlighted the fact that, due to these efforts and public confidence, Lucknow Metro has been able to achieve the fastest ridership recovery in comparison of other metros. He said, we have already recovered 60 per cent of the ridership of pre Corona times. This achievement is also important because so far many important institutions like schools, colleges, offices etc. are still closed. Due to our efforts people have also shown their faith in Metro as the safest mode of travel in the city.
Mr. Keshav also emphasised on the need of a system like ‘One City One Card’ to make the city’s transport system more smooth and commuter friendly. Only by establishing coordination between different transport systems, we will be able to ensure last mile connectivity. The expansion of the Metro network in cities will also play an important role. He praised UP Metro team’s hard work and dedication, hoping that all the upcoming Metro Projects will also achieve similar success in future.

LUCKNOW (Metro Rail News): Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) celebrated 72nd Republic day on January 26, 2021 at both its Administrative building, Gomti Nagar and Metro Depot at Transport Nagar with great fervour.
The celebrations began with the Flag Hoisting by Managing Director Mr. Kumar Keshav along with other Directors & senior officials in the presence of other UPMRC employees followed by National Anthem. On this occasion Shri Keshav dedicated his address to all the corona warriors who served the nation with great dedication. He also said that in the coming days, Gorakhpur and Meerut Metro Projects are also likely to be approved by the state government which will be a great opportunity for us to serve the nation. After the national anthem at the Depot, Shri Kumar Keshav inaugurated ‘Keshav Vatika’, an organic garden at Transport Nagar Depot.
In his Republic Day address, Mr. Kumar Keshav said, “We are proud of the constitution of our country, which not only mentions our fundamental rights but also our fundamental duties. The special organic garden inaugurated at Transport Nagar Metro Depot has added feather to UPMRC’s hat and strengthens its mission of Green Mobility. Shri Kumar Keshav along with Directors and other senior officials started the plantation drive at the organic garden by planting saplings of Amla, Neem, Lemon and many more.

Maha-Metro celebrates fourth foundation day of Pune Metro Rail Project
PUNE (Metro Rail News): The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation celebrated the fourth foundation day of the Pune Metro project on Sunday.
Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and chairman, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation, was the chief guest. The function was held at the Phugewadi office of Pune Metro.
“I visited different project sites of Pune Metro with MD MahaMetro and the team. This included inspection of almost ready Sant Tukaram Metro Station and metro ride from there to the next three stations under construction and visit of the ongoing multi-modal hub at Swargate Metro station”, Mr. Mishra wrote on Twitter.
“Four years ago, the Pune Metro project began with three employees. A team was built in quick time, tenders were called and finalised and in a record 7 months, the actual foundation of the first pier of the Pune Metro completed. Pune Metro has completed at least 48 per cent of the work as of now”, the MahaMetro said in a statement.
Mr. Mishra along with Dr. Brijesh Dixit, MD Maha-metro and other officials reviewed the progress of work in the 24th board of directors meeting held at the Phugewadi office.

10 firms show interest for Mumbai’s CSMT redevelopment plan
MUMBAI (Metro Rail News): Ten firms including Adani Railways Transport, Godrej Properties, Oberoi Realty have shown interest in the redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The Indian Railways Stations Development Corporation (ISRDC), which will be undertaking the redevelopment work of CSMT at cost of ₹1,642 crore, had called for request for qualification (RFQ) in August 2020. The redevelopment work of the terminus is likely to start from December 2021 and is expected to be completed by 2025 according to a news report by HT.
Firms which submitted RFQ include Adani Railways Transport, Godrej Properties, Oberoi Realty, ISQ Asia Infrastructure Investments, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd, Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Ltd, Brookfield Infrastructure Fund IV, Moribus Holdings Pte Ltd, and Keystone Realtors Pvt Ltd.

Delhi-Varanasi Bullet Train: Fares To Be Between Rs 1,200-Rs 3,400
NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): It would cost Rs 1,200 for Agra and Rs 3,400 for Varanasi from the national capital in the Delhi-Varanasi bullet train according to the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed high speed corridor.
The DPR prepared by the National High Speed Rail Corporation has kept the train fare for Lucknow at Rs 2,300 and Rs 2,900 for Ayodhya as per a news report.
“The train fares for various destinations suggested in the DPR are indicative in nature and not final. There could be changes in the fare structure in the later stage,” according to an official.
Aiming at reducing travelling time between major cities, the high speed corridors are being planned across the country. There are various factors like project cost, paying capacity, type of patrons in the route are taken into account to decide the fare structure according to the official.
According to Indian railways, the indicative fares of the Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Corridor are ranging between 1.3 to 1.5 times of the Executive Class fares running in the sections.
Republic Day : Delhi Metro To Operate At Specific Stations
NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): As the nation gears up for the republic day celebrations, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday announced it will operate partially on January 26 on the Yellow line i.e, the metro line between HUDA City Centre and Samaypur Badli stations. Besides, all metro parking lots will also remain closed from 6 am on January 25 till 2 pm on January 26, 2021 as a part of security arrangements for Republic Day celebrations in the national capital,.
The DMRC issued a statement today mentioning the changes on the Delhi Metro Entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from the start of revenue services till 12:00 noon.
Central Secretariat station will only be used for the interchange of passengers between Line 2 and Line 6. Entry and exit at Patel Chowk and Lok Kalyan Marg Metro stations will remain closed from 08:45 am to 12:00 noon.
