  Scope of work

  • Design and Construction of structure of four underground stations namely Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh along with entry/ exit structures, Subways and associated structures such as ancillary building, Utilities galleries, AC plant room, ASS room, TVF room, system rooms and all other rooms as per system requirement, shafts, pump houses, water tanks, diesel generator set room or enclosure, sumps etc. as shown in GAD and tender drawings. The subway at a few locations ,as shown in the General arrangement drawings ,to be constructed by any method other than Cut & Cover Method.
  • Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down Line) by Shield TBM in all types of soil/ rock Strata/ mix strata connecting Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh underground metro stations as shown in tender drawings, including launching/retrieving shafts , sumps and cross passages.
  • Design and Construction of Crossover by Cut & Cover method, in soil/rock/mix strata, before Aerocity Metro station from chainage -310.780 mt to – 125.000 mt including construction of drainage system (All Chainages are of UP line) . This shall also include making necessary design and provision such as Booster fan, Point machine, Niche etc. as per requirement of system contractor. 
  • Design and construction of Twin Tunnel (Up & Down line) by shield TBM method in soil/Rock/mix strata from start boundary of contract at chainage -760.00 mt to -310.780 mt before cross over near Aerocity metro Station (all chainages are of UP line) including cross passages and sumps. A permanent TBM launching shaft is to be constructed at the start boundary of the contract at chainage -760 m for extension of TBM tunnel beyond this point in future as per attached tender drawing no. DC08-TCPL-LS-ST-0013 and DC08-TCPL-LS-ST-0014.
  • The contractor shall plan Launching/Retrieving shaft inside the station box unless otherwise shown in the General Alignment Drawings and properly integrate the tunnel structure with the proposed station.
  • Integration of proposed Aerocity underground station with the existing Aerocity underground station of Airport express metro line as shown in tender drawing. The contractor shall ensure proper partition between the existing operational station and new construction as per consent of the engineer. The contractor shall ensure that proper interface is carried out with the other contractors in the vicinity. All the works required like demolition/ modification/ reconstruction/ remodelling of existing Aerocity Metro Station with proposed stations is included in the lumpsum scope. The contractor shall plan the integration work and entry/exit in phase wise manner to avoid interruption in the operation, passenger movement and service of the existing station due to work in progress.
  • Design and construction of all temporary works associated with construction of the Works including temporary steel decking over station, cut & cover, Entry/Exit & Subway structures to allow uninterrupted flow of traffic and access to adjacent properties. Construction and maintenance of temporary diversion roads and Services for traffic diversions as required. Temporary Walkway in TBM Tunnels as required and any other temporary work required for construction activity.
  • Traffic management along the work site including construction works required in connection with traffic management like road works, footpaths , drains and other services etc. and repair and maintenance of these construction works during construction period. Any road widening / diversion along with associated drainage system required to facilitate the movement of traffic and their repair & maintenance is also included in the lump sum scope of contract. It also includes reinstatement of land/structure/services etc. to original condition wherever road diversion has been made outside original road including reconstruction of structure demolished for traffic management.
  • Providing and constructing of Block works with cement-fly ash concrete blocks in walls etc. as shown in the drawings. Providing screed concrete at the undercroft level as per the details shown in the tender drawings.
  • First stage concrete to tunnel inverts including shear connectors in the tunnel and station areas as per tender drawings.
  • Diversion & support of chartered utilities –
  • Charted utilities include the following utilities:
  • All utilities shown in the tender drawing
  • All existing storm water drains covered/uncovered.
  • All existing above ground utilities including their underground/elevated connections except Overhead HT Lines above 11 KV.
  • The maintenance of all the charted utility from the start of construction till handing over to concerned utility owning agency including regular desilting is included in the lumpsum Scope.
  • The original road adjacent to the work area outside the barricades which is not a part of traffic management/ road widening/road diversion shall also be maintained by contractor as per the requirement which shall be paid under schedule B & C but daily cleaning of soil/muck/dust etc. is in lumpsum scope.
  • Waterproofing of all underground structures, shafts, Ancillary Building, entry/exit structure etc. upto 300 mm above finished ground levels as mentioned in Section S-12 of Outline Construction Specifications for Phase-IV Civil Works (July 2019) and finishing of inside of water tanks with ceramic tile.
  • Providing & Construction of two deep tube-wells of 5-6 cum/hr yield for each station including providing & installing submersible pumps of required capacity with all accessories including panels, cables distribution boxes, electrical cable upto main control panel in stations, GI pipe line, including connecting them to water storage tank of stations and ensure pump remain in good working condition upto Defect Liability Period (DLP).
  • Design and Construction of tunnel drainage system is in lumpsum scope except for following items
  • Providing and laying of drainage pipe from tunnel sump to station sump which will be paid under schedule B & C.
  • Providing and installing pump in tunnel sumps which will be provided by the E&M contractor.
  • Design & construction of Compound & boundary wall including their foundation, column, tie beams, plinth beams, concertina coil & MS supporting arrangement etc. as shown in tender drawing. All MS structure to be painted with Epoxy paint.
  • Making provision in structures for fire detection & suppression system and all other building services for designated system wide contractor.
  • Making provision for accommodating the requirements for LV & MV supply routes for system wide contractors and cable galleries / cables ways for all the cable ways at the station and in the tunnel for system wide contractor.
  • Design and making provision of plumbing system for water supply, drainage and sewage in station is in the Lump Sum scope. However, providing and laying of these plumbing pipes shall be paid separately under schedule B & C wherever required as per direction of engineer-in-charge.
  • Supply, delivery, installation, functional testing and handover of earth mat as per the tender drawings. Any variation with respect to the tender drawings shall be paid/recovered as per items in Schedule C of DSR 2018 item no 5.25.
  • Provision for embedded pipes as per the requirement of system contractors to be done by civil contractor. However, cost of supply and installation of embedded pipes shall be paid in respective Schedule B & C of BOQ.
  • Providing and Fixing of Steel Walkway in bored Tunnel as well as in cut & cover box Tunnels (UP Line & DN-Line) as per tender drawing. Width of walkway should be 600 mm subjected to the condition that there should not be any infringement to the SOD. In case of infringement with SOD, the walkway width can be reduced to a minimum width of 550 mm. Wherever there is a discontinuity in the walkway, steel steps to be provided for safe approach to track plinth level.
  • Underpinning and protection of existing building and structures wherever required.
  • Design of foundation for fire pump, chiller plant, Electrical Panels, Pumps/motors, DG and other such equipment as per loading details provided by system contractor.
  • Adequate dewatering systems with sufficient number of drainage/sewage pumps arrangements to be provided at all works sites till the currency of the contract.
  • Design and Construction of overhead Traction Exhaust (OTE) ducts as per drawing which has to be airtight.
  • The following work are to be designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by other designated contractors with whom the Contractor shall co-ordinate all interface requirements at design stage and during his construction and integrated testing activities. However, making provisions for all these services including all civil works construction, shafts, niches, Lift shaft, escalator pit, inserts, bolts, Anchors, sleeves, flanges lifting hooks, brackets, shear connector to track, openings / cut outs, sealing of cut-outs, providing & fixing of 2 hours fire rated platform edge downstand in steel and fire rated board above Platform Screen Door as shown in tender drawing shall be in the scope of present contract.

  • Designing, providing, testing and fixing MS hoisting hooks for lifts, Escalators, ASS rooms, Sewage room, TVS room, ECS room, Ancillary Chiller Plant room, Undercroft etc. as per the requirement of designated contractor as stipulated in interface management of given in Appendix-2D of Employer Requirements and removal of the same after completion of work, if required.

Pandrol Rahee emerged lowest bidder for Mumbai Metro Line-6 ballast less track contract

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday opened the financial bids for the supply of fastening System for execution of ballast less track in Line 6 of Mumbai Metro in which Pandrol Rahee Technologies emerged as the lowest bidder for the contract.

The financial bids revealed that Pandrol Rahee Technologies quoted the price of INR 29.84 crore which was lowest among the two bidders.

The bid values quoted by 2 bidders are given below –

  • Pandrol Rahee Technologies Private Limited – INR 29.84 crore
  • Patil Rail Infrastructure PRIVATE Limited – INR 31.25 crore

DMRC invited bids for this work under Package MT-08 in October 2020 with an estimated cost of INR 29.82 crore and completion period of 12 months. In January 2020, technical bids were opened for the contract which revealed names of 2 bidders.

Brief Scope: Supply of Fastening System for Execution of Ballast less Track in Line 6 Corridor from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli of Mumbai Metro Rail Project of MMRDA.

Line-6 (Pink Line) is a 14.47 km long under construction fully elevated metro corridor of Mumbai Metro. It will connect from Swami Samarth Nagar in Andheri in the western suburbs to Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg in the western suburbs with a total of 13 elevated stations.

Warangal Metro Neo Project gaining pace

HYDERABAD, (Metro Rail News): Warangal Metro Neo Project is gaining pace as the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Metro Neo proposed for Warangal city will be submitted soon to the State Cabinet for approval.

The Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) has appointed the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) to conduct a feasibility study to prepare a DPR for the Warangal Metro Neo Project. Subsequently, the Maha Metro prepared a DPR for the project and submitted it to the KUDA.

The Warangal Metro Neo will consist of 15.5 km long corridor out of which 8.4 km will be an elevated portion while 7.1 km will be at ground level. The project will have 21 stations with 12 at elevated level and 9 at ground level.

The metro neo line will run from Kazipet to Warangal Bus Station via the District Police Office (DPO) junction. It will have advanced signalling and telecommunications systems and will be equipped with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system.

Metro Neo is a Mass Rapid Transit System that aims to provide safe, comfortable, reliable and energy efficient transportation services to the commuters. It has cost advantage as well as lighter and smaller in comparison to regular metro systems and is particularly suited for Tier-2 & Tier-3 cities.

Growever Infra emerged as lowest bidder for the Varanasi-Howrah HSR Aerial LiDAR survey

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Growever Infra Pvt Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder for the work of the final Alignment design including the Aerial LiDAR survey and other related works for Varanasi-Howrah High-Speed Rail Corridor (about 760 kms. long).

Growever Infra Pvt Ltd quoted the price of INR 14.05 crore for the contract which was the lowest amongest the four bidders including Growever Infra.

LiDAR survey (Light Detection and Ranging) is a technique in which laser enabled equipment is mounted on a helicopter or plane to carry out ground survey. This technology gives accurate survey data and findings in less time.

Name of Work – Final Alignment design including Aerial LiDAR survey and other related works for Varanasi-Howrah High Speed Rail Corridor (about 760 kms. long).

National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) had invited bids for this work on 20th January 2021 with a completion period of 150 days and estimated cost of INR 17.56 crore. Technical bids for the tender opened in March which revealed six bidders. Two bidders did not qualify the technical evaluation round. Financial bids opened on 9th April which reveal name of four bidders.

Financial bid values of four bidders are –

  • SECON Private Limited – INR 16.59 crore
  • Monarch Surveyors and Engineering Consultants. Pvt. Ltd – INR 17.04 crore
  • RITES Limited – INR 16.29 crore
  • Growever Infra Pvt Ltd – INR 14.05 crore

Aerial LiDAR survey has already started for the 865 km long Delhi-Varanasi High Speed Rail in January 2021 and also recently in March for the 741 km long Mumbai-Nagpur High Speed Rail.

KEC-Siemens consortium wins contract worth INR 204 Crores of electrification works for NER sections

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Consortium of KEC International Limited and Siemens Limited wins contract of electrification works for North Eastern Railway (NER) sections. On 9th April 2021, IRCON International Limited had issued a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to a consortium of M/s. KEC International Limited & M/s. Siemens Limited for the supply and commissioning of Railway Electrification Work for various sections of NER on EPC mode.

On 22nd March, financial bids were opened in which Consortium of M/s KEC International Limited & M/s. Siemens Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for the contract and subsequently, awarded the contract for this work.

Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 under Phase-1 consist of elevated corridor of length of 11.1 Km from Belapur to Pendhar with 11 stations namely – Belapur terminal, RBI Colony, Belapada, Utsav Chowk, Kendriya Vihar,  Kharghar Village, Central Park, Pethpada, Amandoot, Pethali Taloja and Pendhar.

CIDCO has appointed Maha Metro to complete the remaining work of Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 which has already been delayed due to multiple reasons.

According to CIDCO officials, the commercial operation between station 7-11 (Central Park to Pendhar) and between station 1-6 (Belapur to Kharghar sector 14) is scheduled tentatively by the end of December 2021 and December 2022 respectively after seeking certification from Commissioner, Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

Siemens wins contract for supply of Gas Insulated Switchgear for Delhi-Meerut RRTS

NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): Ircon International Limited has awarded the contract for the supply of Gas Insulated Switchgear to Siemens Limited for the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor of NCRTC.

Recent Update on Project

Work is going on at full swing for the Delhi-Merrut RRTS. Recently, track laying work has been started on the corridor by NCRTC. This semi high-speed rail line’s ballastless and ballasted track work has been assigned to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in October 2020. As per NCRTC, viaduct of 4 km stretch has been completed so far.

The Delhi–Meerut RRTS is a semi-high speed rail corridor of length 82.15 km connecting DelhiGhaziabad and Meerut. It will have 22 stations. Once completed, the distance between Delhi and Meerut will be covered in less than an hour with trains operating on the route at top speed of 180 km per hour.

Priority section of 17 km length between Sahibabad and Duhai is expected to become operational by March 2023 while the whole corridor is expected to become operational by 2025.

Dhaka Metro awarded Design Contract for Line-5 South to Egis Led Consortium

DHAKA (Metro Rail News): Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has awarded the Design Contract for Line-5 South to the Consortium of Egis, SMEC and OCG for the Dhaka Metro Rail Project.

The Line-5 South of Dhaka Metro comprises construction of 17.4 Km long corridor which includes 4.6 km of elevated section from Aftabnagar Center to Balirpar and 12.8 km of underground section from Gabtoli to Aftabnagar West with a total of 14 stations on the route.

The Dhaka Metro is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Ministry of Road Transport & Bridges of. On completion, this line will a daily ridership of nearly a million passengers and travel time between Gabtoli and Balirpar will be reduced to 30 minutes.

The three years project is divided into three distinct phases –

  • Review and revision of the feasibility study during nine months.
  • Detailed design of the civil engineering and systems up to the DCE for fifteen months.
  • Assistance in the evaluation of bids and in the selection of builders

As per the Contract, Egis teams will be in charge of project management, architecture and technical trades for all stations, civil engineering for the underground stations and the design of almost all the rail systems.

At present, work is progressing on Dhaka Metro Line-6 from Uttara Terminal to Kamalapur Railway Station with a route length of 20.1 km which is expected to become operational next year. 

This is the first contract of Egis in Bangladesh and the company is already involve in many infrastructure projects in India including metro projects in Chennai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Kochi etc.

Rakesh Singh is New MD of Bangalore Metro

BENGALURU (Metro Rail News): Karnataka Government on Friday has appointed Rakesh Singh, an IAS officer from
the 1989 batch, as the Managing Director (MD) of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).

The office of MD becomes vacant after the appointment of Ajay Seth, the predecessor of Rakesh Singh, as Secretary of Economic Affairs by the Central government on Tuesday.

Ajay Seth served for 30 months as MD of BMRCL.
Rakesh Singh is also the Additional Chief Secretary of Water Resources Department and working as the Administrator of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Ajay Seth played an imperative role in fast-tracking the metro project in the city by setting strict guidelines for each corridor along with monthly monitoring of civil work progress. He also sorted out land acquisition issues for the project. He is instrumental in completing many works for the city metro including the last inauguration of 6.29 km stretch of Green line from
Yelachenahalli to Silk Institute in January 2021.

Now Rakesh Singh will have the responsibility to look after the next phase of construction of Bangalore Metro.
