New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged-off the Delhi-Faridabad Metro Line that would allow hassle free travel for around two lakh daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub in Haryana.
The extension of the Delhi Metro connects Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad.
The total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar is nearly Rs. 2,500 crore. Out of this, Rs. 1,557 crore was borne by the Haryana Government, the Centre contributed Rs. 537 crore, while the Delhi Metro provided Rs. 400 crore.
All these are elevated and located on either side of the Delhi-Mathura Road (NH-2).
“The nine-station metro corridor which was 95 per cent indigenously built will provide people a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment-friendly and sustainable transport facility,” a Haryana government spokesperson said.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, addressing a press conference on Saturday, had thanked the Prime Minister for “gifting” the Metro service which would take the city to “another level of progress” with better connectivity with other NCR towns.
He had also said that the Prime Minister would be announcing the go-ahead for connecting Gurgaon with Faridabad by Metro.
QINGDAO,CHINA (Metro Rail News): A total of 11 sets of bullet trains and an inspection train, all built in China, were showcased in Qingdao, Shandong province. They will be shipped to Indonesia soon. Bullet trains tailored for the high-speed railway network linking the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and the city of Bandung were unveiled on Aug 5 in eastern China, marking an important milestone of the project and preparing for the line’s scheduled opening, China Railway International said.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the rail line was to undergo dynamic testing in November to coincide with the G20 summit in Bali that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend. Dynamic testing is a procedure to ensure that the system works properly.
The trains can travel at a speed of 350 kph (217 mph) and make up to 68 trips per day between the Indonesian capital and Bandung. Travel time is expected to be between 34 and 45 minutes, compared with 2.5 hours by regular trains, Budi said
The standards introduced China’s design concepts based on its global experience in high-speed railway construction, promoted the country’s advanced technologies, such as power supply systems, and provided solutions for the design and construction of high-speed railways worldwide, said China State Railway Group.
As of the end of 2021, China’s high-speed rail service exceeded 40,000 kilometers, accounting for more than two-thirds of the world’s total high-speed rail length.

AGRA (Metro Rail News): The Uttarpradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) begin construction work for the last three stations of the first corridor of the Agra Metro. The last three elevated metro stations to be built are ISBT, Guru ka Taal, and Sikandara
In yet another significant development for the Agra Metro Rail Project, the building of the final three metro stations along the first corridor—ISBT, Guru Ka Taal, and Sikandara—began in the presence of UPMRC representatives.
Sushil Kumar, MD of UPMRC, said, “We are dedicated to providing a world-class metro system to the people of Agra within the specified schedule.” The project is being completed in a timely manner, and we will deliver the project to the people of Agra in due time.
In the presence of UPMRC representatives, the soil testing work for the construction of the metro station also started.
Officials from the UPMRC have finished the alignment and survey work, and soon the civil construction work for the final three elevated stations will start.
The first three stations of the first corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project are elevated, followed by seven underground stations and the final three elevated stations.
UPMRC has begun the survey work, RSS work, and following utility work after receiving authorisation from NMA earlier this month.
The 14 km long first corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project is already under development, and civil construction of the last three stations is likely to start soon as well.
BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has recently awarded a contract to RINA Consulting SpA to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 37-km metro corridor connecting Sarjapur Road to Hebbal via Agara, Koramangala, and Dairy Circle. This corridor is part of Phase 3 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project.
RITES Ltd. created the draft DPR for the Phase 3 elevated corridors and provided it to BMRCL. These two lines will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 13,500 crore and have a combined length of 44.65 km with 31 metro stations.
The DPR is a voluminous document consisting of traffic surveys, ridership forecasts, analysis of alternatives, geotechnical investigation, social and environmental impact assessment, depot planning, and power requirements. The report also plays a key role in getting approvals from the state and Union governments and obtaining financial aid from global lenders.
The information requires at least a year’s effort. From the fourth phase of JP Nagar to Kempapura, Corridor 1 will be 32.15 kilometers long and have 22 stations. Corridor On Magadi Road would run for 12.5 kilometers with 9 stations from Hosahalli to Kadabgere.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced Sarjapur Road Hebbal metro corridor during his budget statement for 2021–2022. He stated in his address that steps would be made to develop a detailed project report for building a new 37 km long metro line from Sarjapura to Hebbal through Agara, Koramangala, and Diary Circle, with an estimated cost of 715,000 crores. First, the Reaction frame, a steel frame on which the first eight rings were mounted, will need to be removed to lower the Backup System Unit into the shaft. At first, pushing them through the thrust jack Cylinders allowed the machine to advance. The Backup System Unit is a moving structure behind the shield and contains all the auxiliary systems needed to keep the TBM machine moving forward. As the machine moves forward, rail tracks are placed in the tunnel to transfer the ring section to the Backup System. An automated cart transports the ring segments to the backup system unit.
