KARNATAKA (Metro Rail News): The Karnataka government has finalized a tender for the construction of a 25-Km second stretch of the proposed Bengaluru Suburban Railway System valued at Rs 859 crore according to state Infrastructure and Housing Minister, V Somanna.

The basic infrastructure for the second stretch of the four-corridor suburban railway system will be finished in 27 months and electrification of the line will then be undertaken, Minister V Somanna told the Karnataka Legislative Council on 21st September. In response to a query from BJP member H.S Gopinath, he spoke.

According to Somanna, the state government has invested Rs 120 crore in the preliminary work for the suburban railway which will encircle the city over a distance of 148 kilometers. When visiting Bengaluru in June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the project which has been in the works for more than 40 years will now be finished in 40 months. Modi stated that the Bengaluru suburban train project will be finished in 40 months.

In response to Modi’s claim, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, H.D. Kumaraswamy, stated that the BJP government at the central level allocated only Rs. 1 crore for the project in 2019 against the proposed Rs. 23000 crore that had been agreed upon by the state of Karnataka and the Railways Ministry in 2019. At the time, Kumaraswamy was the Chief Minister.

The project will consist of four corridors: Bengaluru City to Yelahanka to Devanahalli (41.40 km), Baiyappanahall to Chikabanavara (25.01 km), Kengeri to Whitefield (35.52 km) and Heelalige to Rajanakunte (46.24 km). This information was provided by the Infrastructure Minister in March of this year. “We have floated tenders, and a technical bid is being prepared. We will issue a work order for corridor-2 by March 31,” the minister had stated in March, noting that the suburban rail project had been delayed because of problems with land acquisition.

The goal of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project is to connect Bengaluru with the surrounding rural areas and satellite townships. The present suburban rail design calls for 57 stations to be spread across four corridors.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) has granted these rights for a period of five years beginning with the commissioning of the line expected by 2023.

A blend of our Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi will not only resonate with the brand’s rich legacy but, more importantly will enable us to once again partner the government’s vision of inclusive growth, ease of access and community empowerment beyond banking.”

Karthi Marshan, President and CMO, Kotak Mahindra Bank said, “Kotak Mahindra Bank’s presence in the two iconic business districts will celebrate the rich heritage of the city as well as our firm belief in its future. Mumbai Metro has become a highly effective mode of transport – providing comfort, better experience and reliable performance to a new generation of Mumbaikars. NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor spans 82 Kms between Meerut and Delhi which can cover in less than an hour. For the convenience of commuters, RRTS also promises fully-serviced studio flats in south Delhi’s Jangpura for people planning a short stay in the city. Apartments are being built in a 15-floor building next to the Jangpura RRTS station by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) which is executing the RRTS project. Operators of serviced apartments are asked to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOI).

NCRTC will first build 149 units, comprising 96 studios and a few single-bedroom apartments. The area of a one-bedroom apartment is 81 square metres, compared to 45.7 square metres for studio apartments. The studio apartments are designed for tourists who are travelling to Delhi for official or personal work and will only need to stay for a short time. Since, the Jangpura station will be directly connected to Sarai Kale Khan, commuters will have easier access to the two proposed corridors to Panipat and SNB lines (Shahjahanpur, Neemrana, Behror) in addition to the Meerut RRTS route. Visitors should be able to utilise these studio apartments that are completely furnished and equipped with cleaning, housekeeping, a kitchen, laundry and Wi-Fi after booking them through travel portals.

In addition to offering services to tenants, the private operator will also oversee maintenance and other tasks including inventory management, sales and marketing and gardening for common spaces. The first tower that is now under construction has studio and one-bedroom apartments on its top 14 levels, but its bottom floor will contain common areas such as a gym, yoga room, dining room, kitchen, living room, gaming area, cafeteria, and laundry room. On the tower’s top, recreational areas including a terrace garden and a lounge are suggested.

NCRTC was given land in Jangpura that is around 42.7 acres large and has been designated by Delhi Development Authority as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) node. The region will be developed as part of TOD to increase the number of residential, commercial, business and leisure areas with ease of communication. This contains residential buildings and commercial complexes, among other planned connectivity measures, according to the area’s existing master plan.

Two proposed access routes—one from Mathura Road and one from Ring Road—would lead to the 15-storey structure. The process of hiring a contractor to provide connectivity from Ring Road is now underway, while NCRTC is already working on delivering connectivity from Mathura Road. The property is also adjacent to both the Pink Line (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar) and the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate-Raja Nahar Singh Ballabhgarh) of the Delhi Metro.
The 17-km priority segment between Sahibabad and Duhai is expected to be operational by 2023, as construction on the RRTS route is already in full swing. The entire corridor between Meerut and Delhi is expected to be made operational by 2025.
