MADHYA PRADESH (Metro Rail News): The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Project has formed a dedicated Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) to ensure strict adherence to the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) as stipulated by funding agencies. The new committee structure includes representatives across various management levels to facilitate comprehensive oversight and response to public concerns regarding land, social, and environmental issues.
Levels of Grievance Redressal Committee
According to a spokesperson from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), establishing the GRC is critical to maintaining transparency and accountability in the metro project’s implementation.
The committee will operate through three distinct levels: field, senior management, and higher management, each tasked with specific responsibilities to streamline the grievance redressal process.
Composition of Grievance Redressal Committee
At the higher management level, the committee will be chaired by the Director of the Project at MPMRCL, with the AGM (Project) serving as the member secretary and four other members.
The senior management level committee mirrors this structure but is chaired by the AGM (Project), with the DGM (Social) serving as the member secretary and four additional members.
Field-level committees are set closer to the ground operations, where direct interactions with affected stakeholders are more frequent. The field-level committee will be chaired by the Manager (Civil), with the Assistant Manager taking roles as member secretary for social, environmental, and financial issues.
Each committee member is required to maintain a comprehensive grievance register within their jurisdiction. This register is a record-keeping tool and a mechanism to ensure all complaints are tracked and addressed systematically. This approach aims to maintain confidence among stakeholders and provide a clear pathway for addressing concerns related to the metro project’s execution.
