MoHUA Approves Delhi-Bawal RRTS Corridor

In a major development, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the Delhi-Bawal RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) Corridor. Officials have confirmed that earlier it was planned to develop a RRTS corridor from Delhi to Dharuhera in Gurugram but now the plan has been modified and Delhi-Bawal RRTS Corridor has been finalised.

Officials stated that the Haryana government approved the RRTS corridor from Delhi to Bawal and submitted the proposal to the Union Ministry last year for final approval.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar wrote to Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh on January 18, stating that the Delhi to Bawal section of the RRTS project has been approved for the first phase, while the Bawal to Behror section in Rajasthan will follow in the second phase.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar mentioned in letter , “I would like to inform you that the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) had prepared a functional plan on transport for the National Capital Region (NCR)-2032 for developing a semi-high-speed transit system…I would like to inform you that in the first phase, it has been decided to construct Delhi-Alwar Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Bawal in Haryana. Further extension beyond Bawal will be undertaken in the next phase.” as reported by Hindustan Times.
