CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): The second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail is in full swing. The Contract for the construction of track works of Standard Gauge, including all Associated Works between CMBT and Madhavaram Milk Colony for 10.1 km in Corridor 5 of CMRL Phase – 2 projects, was awarded to M/s. KEC – VNC JV at Rs. 206.64 Crores with JICA funding.
The works involve the Supply of Head Hardened Rails, Turnouts, Fastenings and
Installation of Ballastless Tracks in including 16 Metro Station (including CMBT,
Annanagar KV Metro, Thirumangalam Junction Metro, Anna Nagar West Metro,
Retteri Junction Metro, Shastri Nagar Metro, Madhavaram Bus Terminal Metro,
Velmurugan Nagar Metro, Manchambakkam Metro and Assisi Nagar Metro are
Elevated Metro Stations and Villivakkam MTH Road Metro, Villivakkam Bus Terminal
Metro, Villivakkam Metro, Srinivasa Nagar Metro, Kolathur Junction Metro and
Madhavaram Depot Metro are Underground Metro Stations) of the CMRL Phase-2
Project.
Chennai Metro Rail Limited Director Thiru. T. Archunan (Projects), Thiru. S.
Ashok Kumar, CGM (T&EC), Thiru. Livingstone, CGM (PP&D), Tmt. Rekha Prakash,
CGM (PD), Thiru. Gurunath Reddy, AGM (CP), was present along with Thiru. Sivaguru,
Project Manager and Thiru. Praveen Goel, Director from M/s. KEC – VNC JV and other
officials of CMRL were present during the contract signing.
