LHB coaches are modern stainless-steel passenger rail coaches , originally designed in Germany and now manufactured in India. LHB coaches feature advanced safety enhancements such as anti-climbing devices and fire-retardant materials. They are designed for higher speeds, with an operational limit of 160 kmph and a maximum design speed of up to 200 kmph, surpassing the older ICF coaches that are limited to 140 kmph.
LHB coaches offer several advantages, such as a longer car body for increased space, enhanced passenger comfort, LED lighting, 5-pin charging sockets, and disc brakes for efficient braking. They are also equipped with four emergency openable windows for faster evacuation and an Emergency Light Unit (ELU) providing up to six hours of backup power.
