The Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 Rail Project is being carried out by GMRC Ltd., a Special Purpose Vehicle of the Governments of India and Gujarat. There are two corridors: the 5.416-kilometer GNLU to GIFT City Corridor and the 22.838-kilometer Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir Corridor, both of which include elevated stations and 01 Depots. Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro was supposed to use an open-loop ticketing system.
Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 plans to adopt the Smart Ticketing System, which consists of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) solution and the EMV-based contactless Smart Card & QR Code system, in order to forward the aforementioned ticketing strategy in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The suggested business plan calls for a group with the financial institution serving as the lead bidder.
The consortium would be in charge of putting up the EMV-based contactless smart card system, the QR Code system, and the AFC solution.
The consortium must have the AFC solution provider as a member. In this strategy, a consortium led by a financial institution covers the entire capital expenditure. The prime bidder, FI, has the ability to function as both an issuer bank and an acquirer.
