PUNE (Metro Rail News): The Pune-Nashik Semi High-Speed Railway project has slowed down, having concerns among locals despite receiving in-principle approval from the Maharashtra state government and after passing several approval obstacles.
After meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw in February, the railway route was accepted; the final permission is anticipated following the submission of its report to the Ministry of Railways.
The “Maharail” company filed proposals to various banks for the acquisition of 60% of the funds in the form of loans after consulting with the “GMRT project” at Khodad. The banks are not moving the file, due to lack of a government decision.
The railway project, which requires an investment of 478 hectares of property and is estimated to cost 3,500 crore rupees, will run through 54 villages in the Haveli, Khed, Ambegaon, and Junnar talukas of the Pune district.
Residents are still worried about the potential traffic congestion on city highways that could be prevented with the completion of the Pune-Nashik Semi-High-Speed Railway because there have been no updates on the project’s progress.
