New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has installed largest escalator ever on at Janakpuri West metro station under its Phase III metro project. The Janakpuri West Metro station will be the interchange station on blue line soon. This new Underground Station will be special in many ways. Traveling on this will be a different experience. There is much more special in this new Interchange Metro station.

The biggest attraction of this station will be a Joint Escalator. In terms of length and height, it will be the largest escalator of Delhi Metro network so far. In front of it, the escalators on the Kashmiri Gate will also look small. According to the DMRC, the eight-piece Joint Escalator will directly connect the elevated station of Janakpuri West to the Underground Station. The height is 15.650 meters and the length is 35.303 meters. Simply put, the height of the 5-storey house will be its height. The escalator is located at Kashmiri Gate station, its height is 14.475 meters and the length is 33.268 meters. Phase-3 will run a new metro from Janakpuri West to Noida’s Botanical Garden. It has been named the Magenta Line. On this line, the part from Kalkaji temple to Botanical Gardens has started since December 25 last year. Now the line from Janakpuri West to Kalkaji temple is yet to start. The opening of this section will greatly benefit the people of West Delhi. They will get direct connectivity to go to South Delhi and Noida. Right now, through the Blue Line, it has to cross 28 stations to reach the Botanical Garden from Janakpuri West. Only 24 stations will have to cross the Majanta line. From this line, people will be able to travel directly to the Domestic Airport terminal 1-D. From Vasant Vihar to Kalindi Kunj, the entire South Delhi will also be connected directly to West Delhi via Metro. Hauz Khas’s interchange station will also be linked to this line. In such a way, the life of those who go to Gurgaon from west Delhi will also be easy.

Janakpuri West is almost ready by becoming a new interchange station. Finishing work is under progress in these days. However, DMRC has not written letter to the Commissioner Metro Rail Safety, for the safety inspection of the remaining section of this line from Janakpuri West to Kalkaji temple. Officials say that this work will be done by the end of this month. It is expected that the metro will run on this line till May-June.
