CHENNAI (Metro Rail News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has floated the tender to put in the telecommunication system that is needed for the operation of driverless practice providers on corridor-4 of phase-2 from Gentle Home to Poonamallee bypass.

Development is already happening in fast on this stretch and the task to establish corporations that may manufacture driverless trains, lay ballastless tracks and set up OHE for electrification of the road is underway. The deadline for the 118.9km phase-2 is 2025.
Among the many collections of tenders floated for manufacture and commissioning of varied important electrical and digital methods wanted to function practice providers on the hall, the newest is on design, manufacture, provide, set up, testing and commissioning of telecommunication methods.

Telecom methods are essential for the operation of trains. The system consists of public data show methods, public deal with methods, radio and phone methods and CCTV cameras. It hyperlinks the practice operator, passengers, visitors controller on the operation management centre and the stations. These methods play a key position throughout emergencies when passengers have to be alerted and evacuated or if passengers wish to talk to the officers while on the transfer.

“We’re pushing for a June 2025 deadline for the road from Kodambakkam to Poonamallee on corridor-4 and December 2025 for Gentle Home to Kodambakkam in addition to the remainder of the section,” an official stated.

Development of an elevated stretch from Porur to Poonamallee has been accelerated. Contractors have also began conducting soil exams on Kamarajar Salai alongside Marina Seaside close to Gandhi Statue and Gentle Home forward of the development of an underground line. Recently CMRL further recognized an agency to fabricate 26 three-car driverless trains. “When civil work is accomplished laying of tracks and set up of different methods will start,” a CMRL official stated.
