QINGDAO, CHINA (Metro Rail News): A total of 11 sets of bullet trains and an inspection train, all built in China, were showcased in Qingdao, Shandong province. They will be shipped to Indonesia soon. Bullet trains tailored for the high-speed railway network linking the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and the city of Bandung were unveiled on Aug 5 in eastern China, marking an important milestone of the project and preparing for the line’s scheduled opening, China Railway International said.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the rail line was to undergo dynamic testing in November to coincide with the G20 summit in Bali that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend. Dynamic testing is a procedure to ensure that the system works properly.

The trains can travel at a speed of 350 kph (217 mph) and make up to 68 trips per day between the Indonesian capital and Bandung. Travel time is expected to be between 34 and 45 minutes, compared with 2.5 hours by regular trains, Budi said

The standards introduced China’s design concepts based on its global experience in high-speed railway construction, promoted the country’s advanced technologies, such as power supply systems, and provided solutions for the design and construction of high-speed railways worldwide, said China State Railway Group.

As of the end of 2021, China’s high-speed rail service exceeded 40,000 kilometers, accounting for more than two-thirds of the world’s total high-speed rail length.
