The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has successfully achieved a top speed of 180 km/h during its trial run on the Sawai Madhopur–Kota–Nagda section, the West Central Railway (WCR) zone of Indian Railways.

According to the West Central Railway, “The successful test marks a significant milestone under the Indian Railways’ ‘Mission Gati Shakti’, aimed at enhancing both speed and efficiency across the country’s rail network.” as per the Money Control.

The Vande Bharat 3.0 model features automatic doors, ultra-comfortable berths, on-board Wi-Fi, and an aircraft-inspired design. The 16-coach rake comprises one First AC coach, four AC 2-tier coaches, and eleven AC 3-tier sleeper coaches, collectively accommodating more than 1,100 passengers.

In May 2023, BEML received a ₹675-crore contract from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, to manufacture the first ten Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets. Subsequently, in September 2024, the Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset at BEML’s Bengaluru rail complex.
