New Delhi (Metro Rail News): On 9 February 2025, National Capital Regional Transportation Corporation (NCRTC) conducted trial run on an additional 6 km stretch spanning from Meerut South to Shatabdi Nagar in Meerut.

This 6 km stretch between Meerut South and Shatabdi Nagar features 3 stations in total. The Shatabdi Nagar Station is part of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Project. The remaining 2 stations Partapur and Rithani are a part of Meerut Metro.

Shatabdi Nagar station in Meerut is the second RRTS station on which both Namo Bharat and the Meerut Metro will operate.


NCRTC’s Objective Behind the Trial
As the testing phase progresses, NCRTC will undertake thorough evaluations to assess the integrated performance of the train and its coordination with critical subsystems, including track infrastructure, signaling systems, Platform Screen Doors (PSDs), and overhead power supply systems.
About Delhi – Ghaziabad- Meerut RRTS Corridor
Currently, the Delhi – Ghaziabad RRTS Corridor is operational between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South spanning 55 km through 11 stations.

Further Updates
The Meerut Metro project is also progressing rapidly on the other hand. Currently, NCRTC is also conducting trial runs between the Meerut South and Meerut Central. The entry and exit structures are nearly complete while the finishing touches are underway At Partapur and Rithani stations. Furthermore, Platform Screen Doors have been installed till Shatabdi Nagar Station.
