CHENNAI (METRO RAIL NEWS): Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited (CMAML) has engaged WAPCOS Limited to undertake feasibility studies for 2 proposed transport projects – a high-altitude transport system in Kodaikanal and a cable-propelled transport system in Mamallapuram.
The consultancy has been awarded at ₹78.28 lakh for the Kodaikanal project and ₹71.93 lakh for the Mamallapuram project. Each project has a deadline of 120 days.
The proposed high-altitude ropeway system in Kodaikanal is intended to improve tourism access and regional connectivity. The project will also support sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility in the ecologically sensitive hill town.
On the other hand, the Cable Propelled Transport System for Mamallapuram is designed to offer visitors panoramic views of the UNESCO World Heritage monuments while improving access and movement within the heritage area.
