KMRL Invites Bids for Track Work Contract of Kochi Metro Phase 2

KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Kochi Metro Rail Limited ( KMRL) has invited bids for the track work contract worth Rs 127 Crores for Line 2 (Pink Line) of Kochi Metro Phase 2. The line 2 spans 11.2 km between  JLN Stadium and Infopark II, covering 11 stations. 

Stations: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (new station box), Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamughal (formerly Kunnumpuram), Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ (Special Economic Zone), Chittethukara, KINFRA (formerly Rajagiri), InfoPark 1 / Smart City 1, and InfoPark 2 / Smart City 2

The scope of work under this contract includes the Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless Track and Connections of Standard gauge in the Elevated Section from JLN Stadium Station to Infopark Station of the Phase 2 Corridor of the Kochi Metro Rail Project. 

Kochi Metro is an urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) built to serve Kochi. Currently, Phases 1, 1A and 1B of Kochi Metro are operational while Phase 2 is under Construction.

The construction of the Pink Line is being executed by Afcons Infrastructure at Rs 1141.32 crore. According to Shri Loknath Behera, Managing Director of KMRL, the project is being implemented in two phases. The initial phase covers the first five stations of the proposed corridor connecting JLN Stadium to Kakkanad and is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026.
