NEW DELHI (Metro Rail News): The track-laying work for the country’s first RRTS, Rapid Rail, has been completed. An excellent step has been taken in the direction of rail operation.
Seventy-five per cent of OHE installation work has also been completed. The remaining work will be completed soon. The final trial run of the rapid rail will likely occur in the first week of January 2023, and it will be operational in March 2023.
According to Puneet Vats, chief spokesperson of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the track laying work on the 17 km long priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor has been completed. To make RRTS operational in this section, about 34 km of track (17 km viaduct) has been laid. Along with this, the work of OHE and signalling is also going on a fast track in the priority section. So far, the installation work of over 75 per cent Over Head Equipment (OHE) on the viaduct has been completed.
Now the installed OHE will be electrified (charged) with a capacity of 25000 V. An agreement has been signed for power supply for the operation of the Priority Section in Uttar Pradesh with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPTCL).
Priority Section will have five stations Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai Depot.
Currently, escalators and lifts are being installed at these stations. Along with this, the finishing of all these stations is being done.
