DELHI (Metro Rail News): Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a contract from the North Eastern Railway for the construction of a bridge substructure between Paniyahwa and Valmikinagar stations. The bridge will cross the river Gandak and is a component of the ongoing doubling works on the Gorakhpur Cantt–Valmikinagar section. This section is a 95.95 km-long railway line that connects Gorakhpur Cantt in Uttar Pradesh with Valmikinagar Road in Bihar, and is part of the North Eastern Railway (NER) zone of Indian Railways.
The work involves building a substructure with a double ‘D’-type well foundation capable of supporting a double railway line. The design will adhere to the RDSO’s 25-tonne axle load specifications, which are standard for heavy-duty railway operations.
The project carries a contract value of ₹165 crore and is planned to be completed within 24 months.
This assignment adds to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited’s (RVNL) ongoing expansion in the railway infrastructure domain, where the company has been actively winning new projects across multiple zones.
Recently, RVNL emerged as the lowest bidder for a ₹144 crore contract involving the upgradation of overhead electrification systems on the Ramgundam–Kazipet section under South Central Railway.
Earlier in October, it also received a ₹40 crore contract from Western Railway for the upkeep and repair of signalling and telecommunication systems in the Ahmedabad Division.
