PUNE (Metro Rail News): The pier erection work on the 22.3 km long stretch of Pune Metro Line 3 has reached its final phase. It is a record-breaking achievement as it was delivered in just 17 months. The project involved the construction of 923 pillars, out of which 715 piers, approximately 80% have been completed.
The 715th pier, near Agriculture College Square, is a testament to the engineering excellence inaugurated on 14th September 2023. It also marks the beginning of the final phase of pier erection for the Pune Metro.
The Pune Metro, also called Puneri Metro, line 3 is a 23 Km elevated Metro Rail Project connecting the IT hub of Hinjawadi to the Central Business District of Shivajinagar. Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) has undertaken the responsibility of Puneri Metro Line 3 as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project for which the Tata Group has established a Special Purpose Vehicle company named Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited to carry it out.
In addition to the pile erection work, the Pile Cap Work for the Pune Metro Line 3 has also entered its last Phase, with 810 out of 923 pile caps now completed. Shri Alok Kapoor, the Chief Executive Officer of Pune Metro Line 3, emphasised that these piers boast a unique circular design with a diameter of 2000 mm, meticulously crafted to meet the exacting standards of the metro rail system while adhering unwaveringly to construction safety guidelines outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) manual.
It is one of the significant developments unfolding in Puneri Metro as it aims to alleviate the problems of the common masses residing in Pune. It will offer a seamless, cost-effective & convenient public transportation system to the people of Pune.
