Kanpur (Metro Rail News): The Kanpur Metro is set to progress as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the 7 km section of Line 1, which connects Moti Jheel and Kanpur Central Station on May 30, 2025. The Regular metro operations on this route will commence from 31st May 2025.
The entire Line 1 spans 23.785 km between IIT Kanpur and Naubasta through 22 stations. Currently, Line 1 is operational from IIT to Moti-Jheel.
The Line 1 stretch between the Moti Jheel and Kanpur Central Station spans 7 km and features 6 stations.

In May 2025, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) approved this stretch. The CMRS inspection of this section was conducted in March 2025.
In December 2024, the first trial run was conducted on the Line 1 stretch between the Moti Jheel and Kanpur Central Station. The trials were conducted for both upline and downline.
