Pune, Metro Rail News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit Pune yesterday and lay the foundation stone for the Pune Metro Line 3. The PM also addresses a public meeting. 

The 23.3 km Pune metro line 3 will connect the IT hub at Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar and have 23 stations. It is the first metro project in India on public-private-partnership (PPP) model after the New Metro Rail Policy of 2017.

The PM will be accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The PM will lay the foundation stone for the Pune Metro Rail Phase 3, to be developed at a cost of Rs 8,313 crore, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports complex at Balewadi.

Before visiting Pune, the PM laid the foundation stone for two metro corridors – Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan (Metro 5) and the Dahisar-Mira Bhayander (Metro 9). Months ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Navi Mumbai town planning authority CIDCO’s mass-housing scheme worth Rs 18,000 crore.
