Meerut Joins Metro Club
With the inauguration of the Meerut Metro, the city joins an elite group of metro-connected cities in Uttar Pradesh. Meerut now stands alongside Lucknow, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, and Kanpur as cities served by metro rail systems.
Current Ridership and Projections
Currently, over 60,000 passengers commute daily on the 55-kilometer operational stretch that was functioning before today’s inauguration. With the complete corridor now operational, ridership is expected to increase substantially as commuters from Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and surrounding areas, including Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida begin utilizing the service.
Transportation experts project that daily ridership could reach 167,000 passengers within the first year of full operations.
