PIB approves Noida-Greater Noida West Metro extension Project

The extension of the Aqua Line metro is proposed to link Noida and Greater Noida (West), commonly known as Noida Extension, and is projected to cost Rs 2,200 crore.

NOIDA (Metro Rail News): The central government’s Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved the Noida-Greater Noida West Metro Project, an extension of the Aqua Line Metro in Gautam Buddh Nagar and passes through the Greater Noida West region. The PIB has authorised and modified the budget, and the file has been forwarded to the government for final approval. According to a local news website report, the PIB has approved the project, and the central government will contribute 20% of the funding. According to reports in the local media, the project’s development might start at any time.

The extension of the Aqua Line metro is proposed to link Noida and Greater Noida (West), commonly known as Noida Extension, and is projected to cost Rs 2,200 crore. Noida Sector 51 and Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida will be connected by the Aqua Line metro extension corridor (West). Nine stoppages are planned for the 14.95-kilometre route.

The Greater Noida West Metro project comprises a 14.95-kilometre line with nine stops. Five elevated stations, including sectors 122, 123, 4, 12, Ecotech, and 2, will be built along a 9.15 km long elevated route in the first phase. The remaining four metro stations will be built in the second phase.

The project is anticipated to cost Rs 2,200 crore from the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), Noida and Greater Noida Authority, Central Government, and Uttar Pradesh Government. The budget was initially anticipated to be around Rs 2457 crore, but PIB has decreased it by almost Rs 250 crore. The budgeted amount of Rs 500 crore will be used for civil work.
