AGRA (Metro Rail News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has started construction track work on the Agra Metro Priority corridor. Authorities working on the Agra Metro Rail project are optimistic about the trial run shortly because track work is currently being done at the mainline.

“There is one crossover section (where the train changes track) at Taj East Gate Station, and the other crossover section on priority corridor is at Ramlila Maidan near Jama Masjid,” the press statement read.

The ballasted track will be used at the Agra metro depot, while a track without ballast will be manufactured for the Agra Metro corridor. A track without ballast needs less maintenance and is more suitable for metro rail projects, a news release from the UPMRC public relations office.

The depot’s test track is also finished and will be used for a test trial of the metro trains as soon as they arrive.

The construction of track work will be carried out first on the priority corridor’s elevated segment (from Taj East Gate to Fatehabad Road Metro Station), then will undergo track work toward the underground portion.

The first corridor of the Agra Metro Project, which connects Taj East Gate to Sikandara, is currently under construction. The Agra Metro Project will consist of two corridors, each measuring about 29.4 kilometres and having 27 stops.

Six stations will be in the priority corridor, three elevated and three underground.

BANGALORE (Metro Rail News): Anjum Parwez, the managing director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC), said on November 18 that the 175 km metro rail project in Bengaluru was on track to be completed by June 2025.

Parwez states that urban India was the most underserved region until the 1990s because urban design was out of step with connection or transportation difficulties. He claimed that moving individuals from individualised transportation modes into multi-modal transportation systems and onto public transportation was the biggest problem in urban mobility.

Bengaluru will have 314 km of metro rail connectivity by 2041, Parwez stated at a session on the Future of Mobility at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2022 (BTS 2022). He claimed that metro line work was going smoothly on the airport side.

BMRCL receives much support from mobility start-ups to guarantee that commuters have last-mile connectivity. He claimed that to get people to the nodal point and on their way to work, the Corporation is collaborating with mobility service providers, added Parwez.

He stated that the Corporation and the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) discussed constructing bus stops at metro stations to make it simpler for passengers to board and depart both modes of transportation. Although the Karnataka government had stopped their activities, he recommended promoting carpooling and bike taxis.
