PUNE (Metro Rail News): The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has started the foundation work on the Pune Metro pillars in the Khadki area. The work has been started after it received permission from the defence ministry and the district administration.
The construction of five pillars was on halt in the Khadki area because of the non-availability of land but according to the MahaMetro officials, all hurdles relating to the availability of land either for the viaduct or underground stretch on two Metro routes have been cleared now.
According to a MahaMetro official, “Discussions were underway at various levels to hand over the land. The work finally started last week, after a nod was received. A plan has now been prepared to complete the work in the minimum number of days. The pillars will be constructed on a priority basis, which will help to commission the Metro line from Dapodi to Shivajinagar”.
The work of the viaduct on the Khadki stretch is expected to be completed in the next four months.
