Pune (Metro Rail News): Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) floated tenders on 4 October for the civil construction contract of Pune Metro’s Purple Line extension from Swargate to Katraj. Maha-Metro posted a basic tender notice for the contract on the same day.

Scope Of Work:

The appointed contractor for this work will be responsible for Design and Construction of Underground Stations at Market Yard, Padmavati, Katraj and Associated Tunnels at North South Corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project

Operational route: Currently, the Purple Line is operating between PCMC and Civil Court spanning 13.3 km through 11 stations.

  • The Purple Line’s 3.3 km extension between Civil Court and Swargate recently became operational. This section features 3 stations.
  • The extension from Swargate to Katraj is a 5.464 km stretch with 3 stations. The tenders have been floated for the same section. 
  • Purple Line’s northern extension from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi (under construction) covers 4.519 km with 4 stations.
