These non-air-conditioned Amrit Bharat trains are specifically designed to cater to the needs of economically weaker sections. Currently, two Amrit Bharat Trains are operational in Bihar. One of these trains commenced service in 2023, establishing a connection between Darbhanga and the Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. The second train, which began operations on April 24, 2025, facilitates travel between the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai and Saharsa. Railway Ministry Cleared Survey for Doubling of 77.96 km Jammu%u2013Katra Rail LineThe Ministry of Railways has given its approval for carrying out the final location survey for the doubling of the Jammu-Katra Rail Line. This railway line spans 77.96 km from Jammu to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The responsibility for executing this project has been assigned to Northern Railway. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway, stated, %u201cThis survey will cover a length of 77.96 km and its estimated cost will be Rs 12,59,17,363. It is going to lay the foundation for the construction of this future railway line.%u201dHydrogen-Powered Train Moves to Testing PhaseIndia%u2019s first hydrogen-powered train project advanced as Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced the successful trial of the country%u2019s first hydrogen-powered rail coach on July 25, 2025. The Driving Power Car underwent testing at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) located in Chennai. Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned, %u201cFirst Hydrogen-powered coach (Driving Power Car) successfully tested at ICF, Chennai. India is developing a 1,200 HP Hydrogen train. This will place India among the leaders in hydrogenpowered train technology.%u201d Titagarh Receives LoA for Contract to Supply 780 BVCM-C WagonsTitagarh Rail Systems Limited has received a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the Ministry of Railways for a major contract valued at %u20b9312.69 crore. This contract encompasses the manufacture and supply of 780 BVCM-C wagons, which have been specifically developed to fulfil the requirements set forth by the Ministry of Railways. This contract is entirely domestic, indicating that both the manufacturing and supply processes will take place within India.Bullet Train Project Progressed with 1st Tunnel Breakthrough in GhansoliThe Mumbai-Ahmedabad HighSpeed Rail (MAHSR) corridor has achieved a milestone with the successful completion of its first tunnel breakthrough using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) at the Sawli Shaft in Ghansoli. This 2.7 km long tunnel has been constructed between the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Ghansoli. As part of the project, a 21-km-long tunnel is being constructed, of which 5 km is being excavated using the NATM technique between the Ghansoli and Shilphata sections.
