MADURAI (Metro Rail News): The feasibility report for the mass rapid transit system (MRTS) in Madurai city is expected to be ready by May this year. RM Krishnan, the chief general manager (planning and business development) of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) stated this in his reply to Madurai MP Su Venkatesan in January in regards to the implementation of the MRTS in the city.
Krishnan said that the Tamil Nadu government has already granted approval to conduct the feasibility study report for implementation of suitable MRTS in tier two cities including Madurai, Trichy, Tirunelveli and Salem.
He added that M/s Balaji Rail Road Systems Private Limited who were awarded the tender as consultant is expected to complete the report by this May.
